The campus is very green and pretty. It is well looked after and there are an ample number of study spaces to choose from. My course is also very organised and all staff are incredibly helpful. It is a very inclusive and comfortable environment. The worst aspect may be the lack of diversity, although it is becoming increasingly diverse, Uni of York is still not very visibly diverse.

The lecturers, module leaders and tutors are all incredibly helpful. There is so much support and the course is organised so well. It is a difficult course but the help is there for everyone to use.

The rooms are spacious and in prime location. Compared to other universities however, they are quite expensive

As a History student, York is a fantastic place to study, with boundless opportunities to volunteer and get involved in ongoing projects. It is well connected in terms of rail and bus which certainly enhances your experience as a student, as you are not really limited by travel (the city is also entirely walkable). One problem is renting- the cheapest first year accommodation is in dire need of renovation. After your first year, houses are very expensive- and there is not enough of them. I would advise sorting out your accommodation as early in the year as possible.

The course overall is fun and engaging. There is always a wide range of topics to choose from which allows you to pursue both current and new interests. Staff are often field leaders and mostly happy to help if you are faced with any problems. It is all in person and the library is great at sourcing the books you need. The Borthwick archives also holds an extensive amount of material which is used in the modules.

It is in a great location for reaching everything on campus West, close to the library (less than 5 mins), and a 30 min walk into town. It is however freezing in winter, single glazed windows, not sound proofed and in dire need of renovation as it dates from the mid 60s. Maintenance team were responsive but there were limited things they could do with a room like that.
