Studios for work are great and well equipped, the library is large and has everything I need. The arts bar and canteen is nice but prices could be lower.

Contact hours are good but honestly could be higher considering what we’re studying. The staff takes on feedback really well and the course is constantly changing which is great

The rooms were nice and it’s a great location in town but the staff were unfriendly and really unhelpful. If there was a maintenance issue it would just not get fixed and at one point they took all our hoovers away.

The compact nature of the campus means that the university itself forms the feeling of a community. It’s small and colourful, not only making it a pleasant place to study but also a place that offers the opportunity for collective artistic development. At times courses struggle with organisation and the day-to-day dealings with AUB can be a little bit rough around the edges, generally it is a very nourishing place of study.

The course offers fantastic opportunities to develop both the art and craft of filmmaking. It is, at its core, student-lead, with each term offering collaborative learning that so boldly allows for education via practise whilst bolstering practical studies with theory and film history. Whilst teaching hours are lower than expected to allow for project development and individual study, the communication between specialist tutors often leads to some confusion and conflicting ideas being taught - but this leaves room for working out how you like to work as a practitioner.

Campus halls felt like luxury in comparison to other halls of residence. They’re polished and modern and feel extremely secure. The streamlined design does not compromise comfort and the facilities on offer leave nothing to be desired. Facilities management is fantastic and staff are friendly. The halls themselves are quite far out from town, meaning getting to a supermarket is sometimes more of a journey than you’d hope and for those who like to go out of an evening there will be a bus-ride into town involved. Of all of the rooms in the halls, there is only a small number that face south and receive sunlight all day; in winter months this is great, but as soon as temperatures start to warm up even a little, these rooms in particular become unbearably hot, which is a problem since windows are only able to open a crack due to safety. Room allocation seems to be random, meaning there was an odd mix of people in each flat, which is a complete lottery as to whether you’ll get along or not. All genders are mixed in together. Overall, the experience here was great for what I wanted out of halls as someone who wanted quick access to university instead of quick access to night life and the seafront.
