I am1st year student so don't have full experience however, I think that communities like the police staff and safety regulations, library staff and tutors are helpful
work in sport field
most - the equipment variety
may be improved
Overall my experience at the university of Sunderland has been very positive and I would recommend it to anymore considering it. I feel like the support you get at Sunderland is very good.
The university does its best to increase employability by getting students to do presentations quite a lot and this helps because in the workplace sometimes you will need to do this. There’s also a progression officer who can advise students on things like work placements which is a great help. The officer also helps students explore options if the student wishes to change university.
The thing I like the most about the way my course is taught is that there are lectures readily available to help students who need it. The thing I like the least is when you have a 3 hour lecture and it’s just reading from a PowerPoint, sometimes I feel like I could have gone through the PowerPoint at home.
The students union at Sunderland is very diverse and has lots of opportunities to get involved in the university. I don’t know about the facilities however I do know that they arranged the bus that goes between university accommodation and the university campuses.
There are lots of facilities at the university that are good however one thing I think they could do better with is the onsite coffee shops, they could make them more affordable.
I study at St Peters campus and it’s in a nice location next to the river however it isn’t really near anything like shops etc. There is a Tesco nearby however you wouldn’t have time to go in a 15 minute break. In relation to accommodation there also isn’t much accommodation nearby except for panns bank across the river.
There is a great variety of societies and sports and personally I know people on the football, netball and trampolining teams. There are lots of other societies and sports that invited everyone to join up during the freshers fair.
There is lots of support offered at the uni for various things including finances. Every assignment is marked and the feedback is put on the university app where I can view it and I think this is a good way of doing things. If I have any problems with the way something has been marked I can ask my lecturers to explain it and they will do that for me.
Im really loving my overall experience in uni i dont really have anything bad to say about, the tutors have made me feel welcome. Its a great place to be........
They have career fairs, where you can go with your cv and they'll you through the process which is very helpful
I like that in the middle of the lectures we get a 1 hour break so we can just take in what we have learnt.
They are very helpful, they helped find a sport that i felt that i could do and they made sure that i have a made the right choice coming to sunderland
The facilties are excellent, always welcoming ,clean
Yeah, its only 10 minutes from my univeristy, there is a metro nearby wbich isnt too far
There are alot of of societies and sports that you can join and be part of
I go to councelling here at uni and they have been feally helpful in listening to me and giving me and advice on what i can do, thd same goes with my tutors
I'm really enjoying the course and the university environment. New people from different backgrounds and countries getting together. Good experience. High technology facilities available. Everything providing Exciting new experience.
Student future considering that very much. They are organising lot of events to aware the students and to give them opportunities.
Most like for the discussion. Least for the listening to long lectures.
Those facilities really good.
Everything is perfect. Facilitating learning is exceptional.
Yes, the location of the University is perfect. Metro station, bus stand, shopping mall and lot of important places around the university.
Lot of different societies in the university they are really interesting and helpful for the students and the staff wellbeing.
Student support system is really useful. academic tutors are available for all the problem related to subjects and assessments. The feedback system also very useful to improve students skills and knowledge.
I am here just few mouths, but since I am here I have a good experience and I would recommend this UNI to potential new students. You can find many social groups where you can spend the time and meet new people from over the world like gym, football and rowing.
Each 2nd week we have a session about progress
It could be more taught
I do not know
Very good. I’ve learned a lot from the experience. There have been some really good teachers but also some not so good. Can not wait to apply what I’ve learnt in my future. At the same time it does scare me to think that I’ll almost be done and be a pharmacist working.
We are given the opportunity to go on various placements. I’ve had some amazing experiences and am thankful for them all. In addition, the university has provided us with inter-professional learning sessions where we have been able to collaborate with dental, nurse and medical students
Some slides just have pictures and I don’t like that as I then have to look into what the pictures mean because there’s no explanation. Obviously it’s different with every teacher
To be honest, heard a lot more about the student union in my beginning years and not so much anymore.
Good. Sometimes out of soap.
Yea it’s in a great location. I don’t drive as everything is in proximity of each other. The mall is very close and that’s where I get my groceries.
There is a variety. I have a gym membership with the university and spend most of my time at the gym classes
Very good. Always accessible whenever needed.
Uni changed my life, literally i moved here from the middle east, and everyone was so lovely, met new friends and uni was so welcoming and helpful wil whatever i needed
I hate the timing but love the doctors
They care alot about the mental health so it's good
Its pleasant i do miss my home country every now and then but i feel like im slowly adjusting to the change and living alone in a foreign country but its made better with experiences with my friends
At the moment i am not sure as it is my first year
Its an interesting way if seeing how different laws link to modern day society i feel like my lecturers teaching method is abit harsh but aside from that its pleasant
Yes only a 10 min walk
Not the best at times as i cannot access me feedback
My overall university experience so far is amazing, as I like this uni very much because it offers exactly what I like, such as friendly, kind and willing lectures, very interesting studying material and nice accomodation close to the university
Offers a wide variety of tips, presentations and advice
What I like most is how interactive the lectures are, by using quizzes such as Kahoot. What I like the least is that sometimes some lectures just read the slides
Good use of the student's union facilities
Yes, it is in a remarkable location, close to both the accommodation and the center.
Many societies to participate in
The tutors are very freindly, they answer to any possible questions, give feedback and make the effort to contact with each student individually.
Last year I decided to re-sit the year as I was struggling with mental health and mainting a decent social life. This year it’s all improved as I’m getting the support I need and I’ve managed to sort everything out. I’m really enjoying myself now both accademically and socially. The only problem I’ve really had is that I’m not getting the most out of what accommodation should be like as my flat mates tend to hide in their rooms, similar to my first year at this accommodation.
There are always oppurtunites for students to get work experience. My course has it’s own organisation specifically for the subject I’m studying. It’s also very easy to get in touch with careers advice and the university has many job faryes organised throughout the year.
The thing I like most about the way my course is taught is that it’s very hands on. There’s a lot of going out and implementing the practicality of what the subject consists of. I can’t honestly think of something I like the least about it. If we have a problem with anything there’s a system that allows students to submit feedback, which the tutors do actually act upon. I’m resitting first year and it’s already different from last because of them changing the course to suit students.
What Student’s Union? The Student’s Union at Sunderland is only there as a support service. I wish there was somewhere which had facilities like that for students in Sunderland but there are only a few cafes dotted around each building. I’m hoping this is rectified sometime in the future.
There are excellent facilities around the university. The course specific ones are fantastic and there are many different places students are welcome to use for their hobbies. I’ve been using the gym since last year and the price (which you can get a student discount on) includes so much. The cafes around the uni are handy also. The libraries are decent but they are only open 24 hours a day during exam periods which puts it below other universities in my opinion.
There are two campuses but both are close to metro stations and there is a free bus service that takes you right outside each. The city campus is very close to the city centre and only about a 20 minute walk from each accommodation.
Although there are a few, there’s not really much that appeals to me. The university makes it very accessible to create your own however so this isn’t really a problem.
It’s very good. It goes from constant feedback sessions about students work, to help with gereral wellbeing, to support with mental health, as well as careers advice. Each of these facilities keep very good contact so if there’s any crossover with issues a student is having, they’ll be directed to someone else too.
