The campus seems to be a friendly place and there's always a lot of stuff going on. The union is a lot better since the works have been completed despite it being quite expensive to buy food from! The uni offers a wide range of activities and clubs so there's something for everyone to keep you busy.
The low score for courses and lectures is due to the lecturers not having the skills to engage the class properly which doesn't allow us to learn easily and requiring us to do more work out of lectures.
Sheffield is a very warm and welcoming place for Students. The union in particular is a great step in making students feel welcome. The atmosphere at Endcliffe (Where I stayed in first year) was particularly good, as I really felt at home within the first couple of weeks of my first year. The Uni itself is in a very accessible position to people using accommodation all over the city. I cannot knock the facilities of the Union, as there is something in there for everyone. The nights out at the Union are especially notable, Pop Tarts is in fact the best student night out ever.It seems that the students that come to University of Sheffield are all easy to get a long with, and I've had next to no problems with anyone in the department I study in.
A university with scope into different aspects of different careers and opportunities that gives support and advice when needed in a positive and effective way. However some aspects of courses can feel biased in terms of teaching standards with a very narrow area of fields covered making it difficult for some people to understand and adjust.
Sheffield in general is a very homely city, it feels more like a collection of small towns rather than one giant metropolis. The university itself seems to function very well and is well respected, I've never felt that the university is trying to 'skimp' on spending money on its students, and it seems to be ethically run with the students best interests at heart.
The uni has really good facilities; library, student's union etc. Lecturers are approachable and help to enjoy and pass the course! Absolutely love the city.
Overall i would say that i have enjoyed my time so far at university, mainly because of the social life that it provides from the beginning. The good accommodation makes it easier to make friends as no one is terribly unhappy with the surroundings and the vast degree of clubs and societies that are on offer make finding a hobby that you enjoy very easy.
Sheffield Uni has great social and academic aspects. I really enjoy my music course in my second year which is particularly well taught and lots of resources to help and advance my studies.
In general I think the uni is great and so is the city. I have no problems with one of my departments but some of my other department lecturers aren't as grasping as I would prefer, hence the lower score. Other than that I am content with everything :-)
I thoroughly enjoy uni and I'm glad I chose sheffield. Its right in the middle of the city and there is always something to do, like volunteering, club nights or shopping. Because Sheffield has a massive student population, due to the fact it includes Sheffield Hallam university as well, it has a really studenty feel is one of the safest large cities. It's not far from Leeds either, so if you want an even bigger city it doesn't take long!
Awesome university - high quality research driven study, with the most up-to-date developments actually part of our course. Facilities available - leisure, student support, and accommodation are second to none!
Sheffield University is a fantastic large University in a good city. While being large it isn't intimidating and there's lots to see and do whatever you're interested in.
Accepting a place at the University of Sheffield was the best decision I made - my course is informative and interesting, the lecturers available to help and the overall feel of the university is so friendly. The student union itself is massive - there's always something going on in it, whether it be charity fundraising, small concerts or huge clubnights. The city itself is large enough to provide everything you want without it feeling intimidating, and the majority of university accommodation is lush!
The University of Sheffield is a great place to study. First year accommodation is modern but homely, and the university is good at helping you find accommodation for 2nd and 3rd years. The course is great, with interesting modules, great lecturers and good facilities. sheffield is also a really welcoming city.

I have really enjoyed my time at Sheffield so far. I found the first week difficult as my flat aren't very social but once my course had started everything fit into place! I love the city. I love the social life. I love everything but the rain!
