Sheffield city is fun and full of friendly people. Sheffield university is the same too. At the university I have joined many clubs and societys. There is so much to get involved in whatever your interests are. I find the course very structured and the campus modern and really good. I love my studens union and find sheffield great. Always think about the clubs and societies theyhave on offer because they can complete your university experience.
Universty is a great experience. My best advice I can giv is to enjoy university while you can because it is over before you know it. Also don’t miss any seminars because they are registered and you will get told off. I think sheffield is a peaceful city until football is on that is! but really its a great place to study and live and really glad i chose to study here. It is very on your own learning so be prepared to work alone alot but theres always someone off your course to help you out or give you guidance.
Remember that university and the course you take can change your life forever. It doesn’t only just change it, it can shape it so choose your course wisely and think about the jobs that are available after you leave. University is an investment but you have to make sure getting into that debt is worth the investment. I love sheffield and i couldnt have picked a better city in my eyes. I would recommend university of sheffield to all boys, girls, men, women and it is so mutlicultural full of people from loads of different places.
I have been at the universityof sheffield for 3 years and I can honestly say these have been an amazing 3 years. I think the city is a great place and meadowhall close by is great especially when they have student lock ins. The people are really friendly within the city and within the university. The university offers amazing facilities and offer help when ever anyone of their students needs it. No matter what advice you need they will be able to give it you. They look after their students especially SSID which helps you with anything from calculators to money. My advice is when you get to unversity try something new and have fun its a great experience. Sheffield is a great university i would recommend it especially to people who are thinking about studying biology! I love it
Coming to the university of sheffield is one of the best decsions I have made in my life. It really has given me great experiences and I have met the best of friends. One thing you must remember though, university lifestyle and experince is not just about all the parties and nights out, yeah they are great but you have to remember you are paying £9000 a year so dont leave without a qaulification or degree! Work extremly hard and do wellbut dont forget to party! I owuld reocmmend sheffield for a balance of both worlds.
I think the lectures and seminars are well organised and well taught. I think that we can find everything on MOLE is very good just incase you miss a lecture you wont be behind on the work. I am really enjoying independent learning and think many students excell with this type of learning enviroment. I think this university is very good and i would deffinetly recommend this university. The information commons and libaries are very good and well stocked. Although i do not like that you can only lend books for a week at a time especially if someone else has ordered that book then the library perster you to give it back. I suppose its so everyone can have a chance to use the facilities. However the campus is very big meaning you can go to lots of different outlets for different things which i think is a positive. I feel my job prospects after my university experience are good and would recommend this university to others.
Sheffield university is not a university for lazy people that don’t work hard for their grades. Keep on top of all your work and don’t leave everything to the last minute. Iin this economic climate it is harder and harder to get a good job and lots of people have degrees so you will need more than just a good degree you need to make you stand out from the crowd. In the students union there is volunteerings service along with many other services on offer from the university. I love where i live and i like spending time in different parts of the university actually i havent even been in all the buildings as the campus is quite big. We also have a swimming pool and gym so if your into fitness its really great to have that in walking distances. If you work hard and have the grades to get into this university i dont think you will be disappointed. I would highly recommend this university and hope my sister comes here!
I am a person who had great anxiety when thinking about university. I wasn’t sure whether university was for me, whether id make friends or even what course to do. I chose a course I felt I found relatively interesting in at a level. I am enjoying my seocnd year at university and i am enjoying it alot more than first. It took a while to make friends but once i had they increased my university positivity so much. My advice would be to make as many friends as you can and really make the most of the social side of university. I think if you have people to focus and drive you it make university more fun. I would recommend university of sheffield to everyone and the accomadation is great!
I like sheffield a lot. It is a lovely city. The university has a good reputation, and so it is always good to get a degree from a recognised university. Sheffield is very hilly. My accomdation was a good half an hour walk up and down hills but my freinds got city campus. Sheffield has a great nightlife too however it is cold. Its very cold, but i can layer up and hopefully we might see some sun in the summer. I would deffinitely recommend it. Sheffield is a good city for people with money and for people with not alot of money.
I am so so glad I picked sheffield university. The course has been fantastic, lectures are (mostly) super interesting. I think the university is well facilitated and generally the facilities are great (although there is not enough computers to go around for all the students) I think sheffield nightlife is awesome and especially on student nights its pretty cheap, which can always make for an epic night out! I see sheffield as my second home. I love the city as it is very diverse. Im really going to miss being here when i graduate this year ! Good luck and i really recommend sheffield university.
My advice to nayone even thinking about university not just sheffield university is that make sure your organised and prepared. Complete plenty of work on the run up to exams, many people think that the first year doesn’t count but I am saying to try hard and organise yourself effectively including in the first year. However saying all this enjoy the university experience still. Make the most of university and the city you go to live in because you may not be greeted with the job aspects so enjoy this time before the real hard work starts to believe.
I am enjoying my social life at university and feel I have made real and life long friends. However I do not feel the university experience is all it is said to be. I think the teaching at this university is very much 'you're on your own'. If you are not an independant learner then i would suggest thinking about your options and wheher or not this experience is for you. I feel i have to do a lot of individual studying just to keepup with the work and i feel this impact my grades because in school i felt and my grades reflected a high achiever but with the work load and self teaching i feel this is a harder task. Be determined!
The student accomadation is good. However with a lot of students living in the same place things often get broken and I have found it hard to get them fixed. In endcliffe village which is busier and more fun than ranmoore the lawrence field flats heating and toilet do not work. Which i think is bad as we have paid a lot of money on rent! Also the campus' are not as convinient as others such as opal the city campus. Overall i am really enjoying sheffield and think the people are the university are super friendly. I am not keen on the weather. I have met a ton of people. The staff and teachers are all very understanding and friendly and i think this increases the positive frame of mind to education and working. I would reccomend the university of sheffield to anyone wanting a good degree, with good work ethic and toincrease your social skills because everyone is really friendly.
I would not recommend this university. I do not think it overall is a good university. The course feels like its been flung together and the lecturers are basically shocking. They don’t help, they don’t even email you back. I feel to do well I would have to hire a private tutor even though im paying £9000 a year. The accomadation is kept horrible by my flat mates and i feel the facilities for the university arent half as much as they need. Food and drink is so over priced. The societies are rubbish and never meet up.Dont come here. I would not recommend anyone to go to this university. I hate the student union.
I am in my final year at sheffield university and I wouldn’t have changed one thing about my entire university experience! I think this is a amazing university, nightlife and people and really think what more could you ask for? The course has been tough at times but there is plenty of support on offer to help you.Sheffield is not the biggest city centre but it has everything you need, lots of great clubs, and shops especially with meadowhall so close by. The university itself has everything a student could want or need, libraries, study spaces and more - and as for the people no complaints. Everyone is lovely. Mmy advice is however always visit a univeristy before making your decision but i am sure you will love sheffield and all it has to offer!
Going to university has been a great experience so far.. I have met tons of cool and interesting people all at the same time as learning lots of new stuff in my course. Which I find fascinating. Everyone in my university is generally really friendly, be it student or staff and its hard to feel left out. Especially when theres so much for people to get involved in and people make you feel welcome straight away. I think the best advice i can give is learn to cook more than beans on toast and always get involved in activities. Make the most of your time at University.
I love sheffield university. It is a very friendly and international university. With the university being so multicultural it means I have me and you will get to meet lots of interesting people from all different areas and backgrounds. I would advise people to enjoy meeting new people and talk to everyone and take up every opportunity you can that is given not only from university but from sheffield the city itself. I would advise this especially in the first year. 3 years is not as long as you think, so its important to get stuck in straight away. This is the best time of your life where you are young and free to try new things and meet new people. Also take adavantage of the facilities within your department. This is really an amazing university.
Super sick! I am really enjoying university. I think my university is full of good looking friendly people. I love sheffield night life. The drinks are cheap especially throughout the week. Local shops are close and there is lots of different things to do. Sheffield has pondsforge which i use often and i think it is one of the many attractions of sheffield.
The university has a very independent structure and there is very little contact time with staff who are qualified in the area of expertisee. However I do feel that the staff are well respected researchers who deliver interesting material. If you have a passion for finding out further knowledge and further reading then this university and indpedent learning will really suit you. There was no societies that interested me however i would say i am likely to be an exception in that respect and would highly recommend for future students to do it if you are self motivated and an independant worker. I enjoy university at least.

I am very much enjoying my university experience. The first years accomdation is extremely high quality. The support and contact time provided by teachers and staff are generally less than that from what I was used to In A levels however saying this the resources are available and a lot better than that offered at a college. The pressure of university is very high. The clubs and societies is not something that i got involved in and i think this is a big regeret. Sheffield is a nice city full of people from many different cultures and backgrounds. I am not very confident on the future job prospects, but i would recommend this university.
