The university has a very welcoming environment, whether that be the academic or the more social aspect of studying at the university.
Best - location of the university and the facilities and opportunities in my course Worst - Not much support from the student union
Really good and supporting staff and environment for international students. Feels like home. Feeling of being included. Kind and supportive faculties. I love the university and staff.
Lots of resources online such as the online library as well as one in real life to visit at any time. The city itself hasn't got much going on which is probably the worst aspect but it's definitely still lively for a night out and has its perks as everything is so close together. Nearby is hundreds of amazing landscapes that make for a good hike; if you're an outdoor person this is the place for you. There's also hundreds of clubs that are very welcoming and easy to sign up for and of course the nightlife is full of pubs and a great club that you'll see everyone at from Wednesday to Saturday. There's so many courses that go from really specific to much broader so there's something for everyone and on my course at least there's a good mix of written work and course work.
As a first-year student at Bangor University, my experience has been mostly positive. The best aspect is the friendly environment — it’s easy to meet people, and the lecturers are supportive. I also like the beautiful scenery around the university, which helps me relax after studying. However, there are some challenges. Adjusting to independent study and managing my time can be stressful. Also, Bangor is a small town, so there are fewer entertainment and job opportunities compared to bigger cities. Overall, it has been a good learning experience with both enjoyable moments and some difficulties.
The best aspect would definitely be the welcoming feeling and being able to reach the teachers very easily. The worst thing would be the lack of job opportunities while studying

Stunning location and grand University buildings. Great Marine Biology courses and fantastic facilities including extensive laboratories and research vessel.
The university has a lot of facilities such as their libraries, lecture halls and computers all around their study centres.
My experience at Bangor University has had clear highs and lows. The best part is definitely the location — being so close to the coast and Snowdonia means the scenery is incredible and there’s loads to do outdoors, which makes student life feel less stressful and more balanced. I also like how small and close-knit the community is, as it’s easier to make friends and feel part of something, and the cost of living is relatively affordable compared to bigger cities. However, the downside is that Bangor itself is quite small and quiet, so nightlife and entertainment options are limited, the weather can be very rainy and grey, and because it’s quite remote, travel to major cities takes time and can be expensive.

The support and openness of the uni and staff make it so much less nerve-racking being from a smaller area. I have been able to excel greatly compared to what I thought was possible. Halls are my main complaint, as people are just not ready to work and live with others, but that is a small issue. I also wish maintenance would be more on top of requests, but I understand the workload.
More investment into facilities, location is scenic and peaceful, area is easy to navigate, student halls are very nicely priced
A very understanding university for new students, places support above all else. It could be improved through not closing down campus shops and creating membership fees for societies instead of giving out a £50k pay bonus.
Now have to pay for societies, pretty building, good heating, WiFi occasionally doesn't work, cheap accommodation, pretty natural nearby Bangor
The support recieved from staff at Bangor uni has been really incredible. The buildings are a bit run down, however i think that is because of the nature of the buildings (they are quite old, and full of history).
The location of lectures vary, which negatively affects those struggling with mobility or those with no direct contact to a car. Lecturers are very supportive, content is always uploaded before session, recommended reading or where to get additional information is included in lectures too, lectures give a supportive learning environment and always have time to answer questions. Haven’t directly used the student union, however updates are sent regularly by email and information about encouraging students to engage and learn the Welsh language .
Nothing is terrible about the university, but for improvements I could suggest making it easier for students to travel to normal site lectures or any lectures across Menai bridge as walking can take up to 45 minutes from certain locations where there isn’t many public transport options
University staff are very helpful and there are ample opportunities for socialising! The improvements are that certain spaces within the university need a little TLC. E.g. desks and chairs replacing but other than that it’s a great place to study.
The worst is sometimes there’s rubbish outside accommodations The best is the local area is really friendly and everything needed is close by
Best aspects- community acceptance and pastoral support Worst- lack of funding leading to lack of opportunities

We're lacking a lot in terms of music facilities, or facilities available are very old/decrepid. Bangor is a very beautiful area, however ot is a struggle to get around with mobility issues. Everyone here is friendly as we're a small community. It has a cosy, warm vibe.
This first year has been fairly basic. Some modules have been engaging, while others have been... less engaging. Tutors are friendly, and everyone knows everyone in our department by name, which is nice. Really wish we had more up-to-date (non-piano) instruments/studio/kit and a practise building in better condition.
Halls are in a pretty area, but very bad for someone with mobility issues. The building I'm in is old, and you can very much tell. Still, it couldn't hurt for things to be better maintained (such as shower pipe issues, automatic door problems, mould on bottom floors, lack of ventilation in bathrooms)
