What students say about risk-management

I'm an optometry student entering my third year in September 2024. The lecturers are very nice and supportive; however, the optometry students in Group C are extremely rude, disrespectful, and lack any sort of manners. Many of them speak poorly of you if you fall behind or are slow in your routine, and they refuse to collaborate despite knowing that practice is essential for skill improvement.

What students say about risk-management

The location of the uni is great - a very inviting environment all around. The main building and the SU are basically inside parks, which makes going about your day on campus quite pleasant. The lecturers and tutors tend to be very responsive and eager to help in any way they can. I haven't experienced any form of.. let's say, embarrassment when asking for help. The welcoming vibes from the faculty is just amazing. The SU is also really great! Just the amount of little events being hosted there is incredible! Almost every week you'd walk into the building, and there's a stall in the hall with people giving out free salad bowls. Stuff like that, I find, boosts the morale and the feeling of being welcomed and wanted as a student. As well as that, the countless clubs and societies are such a great ay of bringing people together. I am a part of the Traditional Crafts society, which is hosted at SU, and I've learnt skills with the society I never thought I would...like, leather binding…? Wow! I'm terms of improvement, nothing comes to mind. Perhaps, some sort of signage around campus could be great? With the amount of little tiny offices all around the Botanic, it can sometimes be really difficult to find the one you're looking for. Looking for street signs can sometimes be time consuminh and, frankly, annoying. So, like a classic arrows-on-a-pole kinda thing would be amazing!

What students say about risk-management

The staff are great! They are always there for support and I never feel like I do not have someone to approach when struggling. Having a personal tutor is so beneficial as well, as you always have them to talk to whether it be about your studies, personal matters or career paths! I also love that it is all one campus so no need to run between building to building making it to classes as they all link in some way. The student wellbeing service is also a great support system in place, the counselling service is extremely helpful and an amazing thing to have built into the university.

Studying risk management

Risk management is an essential factor in almost every kind of business and organisation around the world. It is the study of uncertainty and involves statistical analysis and the development of technical strategies to minimise its impact on business. Consequently, there are a wide range of job roles which require risk management skills, and graduates are able to apply their education to many different types of company and role. Common jobs include risk analyst, compliance officer, insurance underwriter, or business consultant. Frequently studied modules include financial risk, advanced statistical methods, strategic risk, and operational risk assessment. At postgraduate level, students can advance their research into current areas of interest such as cybersecurity, climate-based risk factors, and sustainable growth models.
