Student Support: This service was not very adequate for the first 2 years of my course, with the entire support staff team leaving at the end of Year 2 but when they were there, the service was still not helpful. When bringing up an enquiry, we would always receive an automated response, followed by a delayed response which would not address the enquiry with a specific solution. Sometimes we wouldn't even get a response. The new student support staff have been very helpful and that could be improved with potentially the person managing them to receive more resources. The new study space they provided at the beginning of this academic year proved to be quite resourceful. One way they could improve it is by getting better computers for the area as the current ones are quite slow.
Teaching: Despite the lecturers being experienced, they aren't exactly proficient at teaching seminars or outlining clear expectations of assignments which would be determinant of our grades. Their lectures would range from being mildly interesting to just reading off the slides with little additional input. The core texts they would provide sometimes wouldn't have relevance to the exam, with one module's core text providing more confusion towards writing an assignment it was structured around. Lecturer Feedback: The feedback our lecturers would provide on our assignments would be vague and non-constructive as they wouldn't recommend improvements for the next assignment. Providing feedback to the lecturers themselves would result in temporary improvement in teaching which would be forgotten after a few weeks. Oddly the option to provide feedback has not been given to us in our final year.
I love the location of the university in the canter of London and next to the Bank of England. As well as the lecturers, they have amazing methods to teach you all the tricks and basics that you need to know for this sector. It is the perfect university to study to become a banker. I do not have improvement feedback as I am very happy with how it is.
I love the fact that the lectures and seminars are quite short, because it allows you to be more interested in the lesson and it avoid boredom, as well as the fact that the modules and topics cover everything you need to know in order to become a professional. The only aspect that I don't really agree with is the fact that for the seminars we are split into 3 groups and if you are in the last group you have a massive gap of free time, when I personally believe that it can be done in 1 massive group or max 2 groups.
That’s it’s very specific to what I want to do and gives me specific and detailed support
I don’t not find many cons with my course
I feel this is an excellent institution and deserves recognition. The facilities are impeccable and I have received nothing but endless support since day 1. I feel very comfortable talking / contacting my lecturers as well as student support. They cover everything from tutors, work load and mental health. All of which I find very important, I want to touch on the support for mental well-being. They are extremely helpful and supportive offering daily / weekly meetings with whomever you feel comfortable, to talk about uni and the stress and how it’s impacting your mental health. This makes a huge difference for the students and creates a healthy and comforting environment.
Lecturers cannot do enough for you and are always open to any questions you have. They always respond to emails promptly and offer any support needed.
This institute is in the heart of London and has so many opportunities surrounding. There are many shops / restaurants for part time evening work, gyms and health suites to wind down and take care of your body. Overground trains and tubes are everywhere and travel is very very easy.
LIBF focuses on modern research in finance and from day one encourages students to think about their future. The careers team is amazing and students are always able to seek help for applications, and attend networking events The university has a professional environment and a focus on studies. This somewhat comes at a cost of the social aspect. Many of the societies are set up around finance and although this is perfect for the course, it restricts the amount of socialising amongst peers in a relaxed environment. However, this has been through times of Covid restrictions, and since there have been huge improvements in this area thanks to a new support team. Due to the smaller size of the university it is easy and encouraged to speak out, share opinions and suggest changes to be made. The uni is supportive of any societies or extra curricular activities you may want to start and are happy to provide resources to help you develop them. It can be a matter of taking responsibility for any events/societies you would like to be involved with, and creating them yourself. Overall, I have really enjoyed my time thus far and felt like I have been given a great depth of knowledge to be fully prepared for a career in finance.
The best aspect has to be the education including the modules that we learn as well as extra education available including Bloomberg certificates, Coursera and CFA to name a few. Everything is super relevant and allow students to really get ahead of the game. I love the support from the careers team, provide great support and networking events. Also, many of the lecturers have a wealth of knowledge, and I'd like to mention Lecturer B and C as their passion and energy is contagious, and are willing to go above and beyond to help students. The worst aspect will have to be the social aspect. It's tough having so few students as it's unlikely to find many people with similar interests. It's hard not to be slightly envious of the plethora of sports and activities taking place in larger universities. Although, the uni tries hard to support students to set up societies, it can be hard to get a group tougher regularly.
Try to invest more in the basement as it’s the only social place uni students really use. (Year 1)
Best aspect is all the content is online so you don’t miss it all. Worst is that sometimes the content is overcomplicated and can be easily understood in 5 minutes watching a YouTube video.
The disadvantage is that there is no separate study space for a single person, and there is no video recording for each lecture and seminar.
Lecture is two hours long, which is a bit too long.
The university is very supportive and welcoming. It was very easy to get involved, meet new people and learn new things. They invest a great deal in ensuring that students are provided with support thus making it the perfect place for students like me.
Both the course content and teaching quality is delivered at a very high standard. Things that are difficult to understand at first become easier once you request support. The lectures and other faculty members are very supportive. The London institute of Banking and Finance is perfect in terms of assisting with career plans whether you know what you career you want to pursue or are still uncertain. Career support at LIBF is always a priority.
The best part of the university is that you’re being taught by individuals that have been through and done the things they’re teaching about. Another positive being the location, getting a feel for what it’s like being a young professional in the city. It could be improved and is being improved by the support given to student going through tough personal situation. In my first 2 years it was terrible if Im honest but it’s now starting to get better.
The first two years were hurt by covid but the 3rd year has been much better.
Good and experienced professors. Good degree overall. Uni facilities are small but enough for the amount of students
Overall course is good

The campus is always clean and the modern facilities give a nice feeling. Departments like admissions or fees are always slow to answer and require constant chasing.
Honestly, this area is very safe and tranquil in comparison to the rest of Birmingham, I really feel like it allows me to focus on my studies here more. However sometimes I feel as...
