Studying human resources management

Human resources refers to the people within a company or organisation and studying human resources management (HRM) at uni will teach you the knowledge and skills needed to understand people and help get the most out of a workforce. You’ll learn about employee happiness and wellbeing, as well as practical elements of the job like company payroll, employee benefits, recruitment and employment law. During the course, you’ll become aware of contemporary HRM topics, such as business ethics and employment diversity, and may have the chance to spend a year in industry gaining practical experience or study abroad. Once you’ve graduated you should find plenty of employment opportunities as most organisations have an HR department. Some jobs that HRM graduates could go into include human resources officer, payroll specialist and HR consultant.
