Despite the difficult year, I have had a great start to uni life and can’t wait to see what the next two years will be like. The social and academic sides have been great so far. I’m hoping that with the lessening of restrictions I will be able to experience the true student experience and feel more connected to the uni’s community.

While the uni have extended opening times in summer to get access to equipment after missing out this year, building work has meant we are unable to access the teaching suite which has impacted my studies quite a bit.

Recent changes have been made to make services more well-known and accessible. The instagrams are also well run as they remind you what is available even when you aren’t actively seeking support.

Online has been difficult but a great attempt has been made to make them interactive and engaging. Having one in person lecture a week has been great, under the circumstances as it allows me to use my practical skills.

University has been filled with ups ans downs, as it is for the majority of people but the opportunities that have been provided, the support, the people I've met have been amazing and i wouldn't change it. It teaches you about yourself not just academically but the life lessons, dealing with living on your own and all that comes with that and the social aspect.

A 24 hour it room, plus the library with various different rooms to suit all study needs. Natural social sciences has their own it room as well. The science department has good equipment to help enhance the content taught on the modules.

The support is amazing, its the main reason I picked this uni when I was looking round. Being a mature student and out of academics for a long time, this was my top priority. As long as you seek the help and support it will be given and they'll point you in the right direction for your needs and do as much as possible. Be this from lecturers or the student services such as counselling etc

The student union run feedback sessions on various aspects on student life to ensure that they are keeping on top of current issues .

Yes, there is plenty of accommodation right near my campus. The high street is about a 10 minute walk from campus and there's a big supermarket about the same in the opposite direction. There are good bus links and a student discount if you need to travel further out.

There is a good range of socities and always the opportunity to start a new society if theres something you feel is not being catered to.

They are very interactive and forward thinking in the teaching methods. Traditional go in and listen to someone talk for hours is avoided wherever possible and engagement levels are top priority. The thing i like least is they're trying to drop lectures from 3 to 2 hours but sometimes cramming things into two hours just isn't feasible. I understand it can be hard to keep focus in a 3 hour lecture and 3 hours is not always needed but it helps during practicals to have that extra time

Lecturers are approachable to ask for advice, they regularly send out information for volunteering, positions, courses and extra things you can do to stand out. There's a couple of options to do placements within the course without taking a whole year out to do so. And their are future plan weeks with lots of events centred on work and development post uni
