Union still being closed is pretty poor. Massive social space left unused. The actual uni is not the best place to study. The library is incredibly noisy. More could be done to tackle that.
The grounds are lovely and the hills all around are great to watch through the day from the library area. Great inclusion between the university and its surroundings.
Ally court is a bit of a trek
I just haven’t seen/needed some of these facilities, so I rated them a 3 star. So far the university has been very accommodating. I love it here!
The institute is great, prime location with a great and calming atmosphere. There's no lack of support in any field and it's always easy to reach out and ask for help.
I think this university is amazing for studying, especially as someone that loves time alone and nature, the campus is perfect. I rated student services lower due to an experience I had with seeking essay help with a tutor. I was booked on a non existent time slot and did not tell me that I was not going to be seen 20 minutes after my meeting should have started. The mistake they made caused my grade to suffer and I hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else. This is perhaps a one off mistake but it is important to students that this is fixed - perhaps mending their booking page will fix this or having someone to monitor these bookings will help solve this issue.
I love the uni and all the support they offer
I think the campus is lovely but there is a lot of issues with disability access for students and I struggled to keep in contact with disability team due to all the different emails and timetable that I need access to as getting 15 email and having to search is difficult to keep track of when you have cognitive delays.
I really like studying in the university of Stirling cause I like the people and the place. Stirling city is an amazing place to live as a student and you are very well connected to Glasgow and Edinburgh for when you want to experience a bigger city. I love the campus and the facilities as well. One of the things I think could be improved is the amount of classes you have I think there should be more classes tought face to face instead of lectures posted to be seen later.
Great staff and facilities to aid learning. Only thing to improve would be the union and ways of connecting students.
The best aspect of Stirling would have to be the location. The views of the sceneries are refreshing, there are many walking paths near the uni which are perfect for when students are needing a break. The worst aspect of Stirling is probably that there are barely any activities beyond the University into town, student life is practically non existent as Stirling is a small town.
Beautiful campus with so much natural scenery and wildlife. There is a groundskeeping team which is very dedicated to maintaining the campus. Accomodation and maintenance services are very helpful and quick to respond to any urgent issues you have. Campus central has a very modern appearance and features a lot of convenient facilities, such as a Nisa shop and a pharmacy. Lecture theaters and classrooms are very comfortable and modern, and lectures are recorded which makes studying at home easier. Students have the opportunity to purchase the Haldanes breakfast/dinner deal which allows them to prepay all of their weekday meals and not have to cook or budget. There are dozens of societies available in the university, and there is definitely something for everyone. They act as a great way to bring people together and bond over common interests, as well as giving students leadership roles and experience for their CVs.
The campus is beautiful and has so much nature which manes it a great place to balance study and breaks. There are so many opportunities for extracurriculars and facilities to train. The gym, even though it is a sporting uni, is not set up for athletes to train, based on the way the weights and machines are divided, and the elite sports room is only available occasionally with clubs or for the very few scholarship athletes.
Lovely campus environment and friendly people. Sometimes lack of seating in campus in order to study. Car parking can be a nightmare - you have to arrive before 9am even for afternoon classes in order to guarantee a space.
The best thing about my uni experience is meeting so many people from around the world. University of Stirling is a diverse community. The campus is very beautiful me and my friends walk around outside everyday. Could be improved for 1st years by having certain programs that give itinerary or show students around Scotland.
Best- the people I have met on my course and through societies Worst- the people I live with, some are okay but requesting a quiet flat to be put in with 10 isn’t great
My university experience has been mostly positive. The best part is the supportive learning environment. Most lecturers are helpful and approachable, and the course content is interesting and relevant. I also like the campus facilities, especially the library and study spaces, which make it easier to focus on my work. I’ve met people from different backgrounds, which has helped me grow both academically and personally.
