Tees is small friendly and very supportive
Campus is friendly, open and diverse. It feels very welcoming. Only downside is I do wish some of the social activities weren't so group focused
The University is Local to me, my lecturers are really friendly and welcoming. Making it easy for me to come to when i need help. Some of the facilities I work with There is sometimes not enough space for me to work on them in my free time when there are other classes in

Teesside University is a genuinely great place to study and I would highly recommend it. As a second-year Journalism student, my experience so far has been extremely positive. The university feels fresh and modern, with a campus that is always clean, tidy and well maintained. The facilities and technology are up to date, which really supports learning and practical work. There is a strong sense of community at Teesside. It’s easy to make social connections, and the Students’ Union always has something going on. It’s inclusive, welcoming and makes students feel involved, whether through events, societies or simply spending time on campus. Student support is one of the strongest aspects of the university. Staff regularly check in with students, genuinely care about wellbeing, and go the extra mile to put the right support in place, both within the university and externally if needed. I’ve always felt listened to, supported and valued as a student. In terms of improvements, there is very little to fault. Continuing to build on existing facilities, opportunities and resources as the university grows would only enhance an already excellent student experience.
My learning experience on the Journalism course at Teesside University has been 100% positive so far. The course is mainly taught in person, which works really well for journalism and creates an engaging, interactive learning environment. Teaching is well structured with a strong practical focus, helping students develop real-world skills alongside academic knowledge. Lecturers are knowledgeable, approachable and genuinely supportive, with good contact time and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and receive feedback both during and outside of class. The overall atmosphere is encouraging which makes learning enjoyable and confidence-building. There is very little to fault with the course. If anything, having more learning materials available online would be a helpful improvement. Lectures are not recorded, so if a session is missed for any reason, students usually only have access to the slides, which can sometimes make it difficult to fully understand what was covered. Recorded lectures, more detailed online resources or bullet-point class notes would help support students’ learning and make an already excellent course even stronger.
