there is a good uni shop, good priced, there is a bar
I really love Marjon, and I think its shortcomings are unfortunately a hangover from Covid, and things that the University sector is struggling with at large. The support from lecturers is unprecedented, and you feel as though you can achieve anything you want to, provided you put in the work. Barriers only exist from within, they’re very happy to platform every voice.
One of the best things about the course is how early you get school experience. You’re in placements regularly, which helps build confidence quickly and gives you a proper understanding of what teaching PE is really like. Being able to apply what you learn at university straight into schools makes a huge difference, especially when it comes to lesson planning, behaviour management, and communication with students. The course is well balanced between practical PE, teaching skills, and understanding how students learn. Lecturers are really approachable and supportive, and because class sizes are smaller, you actually get to know them well. There’s always help available if you’re struggling, whether that’s with assignments or placements, which makes the course feel less stressful and more motivating. Marjon itself has a really friendly, community feel. It’s not overwhelming like some bigger universities, and everyone feels approachable. The sports facilities are strong and suit the PE course well, giving you the chance to practise and develop your own skills alongside learning how to teach them. Another big positive is that you graduate with QTS, meaning you’re fully qualified to teach in secondary schools straight after the course. This makes the degree feel worthwhile and career-focused, and many students leave feeling confident and ready to step into a teaching role. Overall, Plymouth Marjon’s BEd PE with QTS is a great choice for anyone who’s passionate about sport, education, and working with young people. It’s practical, supportive, and genuinely prepares you for life as a PE teacher — not just academically, but professionally too.
Everyone is so welcoming and supportive. Easily able to be a good rapport with others, the campus is easy to follow and find rooms and access resources. An official starbucks would be better as opposed to the machine and alternative milk options as doesn’t accommodate to everyone or even let you scan the Starbucks app to gain points.
Turn the heating up please
My lecturers are very lovely and provide amazing support for me Parts of the accommodation facilities could be improved though
I love the community feel at Marjon, however the location isn’t great as it takes a while to get into the city centre.
Overall the environment and how helpful all the staff are just makes the experience so welcoming
best is the social life and the worst is the 9am lectures
It’s a very friendly and community based uni
It’s all round good

The people here are so nice from students to lecturers and to other staff. Coming from Ireland I didn’t know anyone and I felt really welcomed by the atmosphere, especially being a smaller uni.
Plymouth Marjon is a lovely university where your voice is heard and listened too because of the small campus and pupil to lecturer ratio. The team around the university are always welcoming and eager to help you the best the can, dedicating their time and effort. When at Plymouth Marjon you quickly learn your way around and become familiar with plenty of people which gives the friendly and safe feel it prides itself on.
It is a good campus, however, it is so far from the city that it is difficult to be able to have a good night life or social time. If you were staying on campus, you would need to arrange transport to get into the city to experience the social aspect there. It would be difficult to shop and have a good time if staying on campus. Then, on the other hand, if you want to stay more central to the city where shops, social aspects, bars, restaurants and clubs are, you would need transport to be able to get to university.
I really like the small university as I feel like you know the lectures more personally.I also like that the university is very quiet and peaceful with all the wildlife around. However, I think the printing system needs to be improved it is very expensive and not very accessible.I also think the location isn’t brilliant trying to get from the train station takes nearly an hour if more transport could be put in place it would also help the parking fines many student have.
Best - Lecturers - Campus - Course - Student life Worst - Location, not too close to town
Marjon is a small university, which makes it great for knowing the people around you and also makes it easier to receive help from your tutors and student union, the staff are very welcoming and polite, the facilities and businesses within the university are of good quality and enough to accommodate the demand, don't think I would change anything honestly, I'm enjoying my time here as well as learning what I need.
One of the best aspects is that due to it being a small university, the lecturers get to know you well and on a one-to-one, name-to-name level.
The campus feels safe and secure, it is a small university but that helps as it’s easier to get used to. The only downside is the location as it’s not in the city but this can give you the safety and security away from the city too - plus you can still get student accommodation there! Student Union has been fantastic this year, offering lots of events to get lots of people involved too!

Marjons uni is a great place. It is quite small so not overwhelming and you're not just another face in the crowd. The lecturers are kind but are tough so you can't just coast through the course. Clear process to ask for help or any assistance. If staying on campus, the accommodation is okay! if you're unsure of moving out - do it. the only big con of living on site is you're quite far out from the city Centre. however, that can be quite nice. the campus has lots of green space and very open. overall, marjons is a very homely university.
the lectures are all in person. sometimes it can be quite long when we have 6 hours of lectures a day. as a result, the engagement and attainment in the last one often suffers. but on a whole the course has relatively good timed lectures.
I wouldn't say it is value for money. however, it is much cheaper than other universities. all of the rooms in the flat are different sizes. so it is luck of the draw, if you get a corner room you've got a massive room. the kitchen doesn't have enough space for 9 people but you can manage. the shared toilets and showers are really okay so don't let that put you off. overall, couldn't recommend moving to site more.
