Plymouth Marjon University is a small uni in the beautiful south-west of England. It has a beautiful green campus with everything from city to sea to moor right on its doorstep. With 180 years of experience, Marjon does things a bit differently. It's all about giving students a more personal and supportive approach. In small class groups, tutors push students to reach their full potential. Plus, Marjon has strong ties with local employers, so students get plenty of real-world experience.
Marjon's campus is in the north of Plymouth, where the city gives way to beautiful views of Dartmoor. Its location on the edge of the city means it's not just students you'll see on campus – there's lots of wildlife, too. Getting to the city centre is easy, with regular buses that offer student fares. This means you can get into Plymouth for a night out and get home safely to campus without the cost of a taxi.
Plymouth Marjon has a focus on creating connections. It's a sociable uni with a close-knit community – and with under 5,000 students, you'll never feel lost in the crowd. Marjon Students' Union hosts regular socials and nights out, including at Barjon on the campus, and in Plymouth nightclubs and bars. This helps you quickly make friends and build your support network.
It also offers great facilities, including sports science labs, simulation suites, a crime scene house, and TV/radio studios on the South West BBC campus. Its sports centre is used by top athletes and professional teams, so you'll find first-class facilities there, too. These include a golf simulator, padel courts, and a swimming pool alongside the usual fare.

Plymouth is an energetic city with a thriving student population between its three unis. With its roots in the Bronze Age, the modern city is full of attractions, shopping, eateries and nightlife. It has a reputation for a safe night out, making it a great place for students.
Plymouth Marjon is just 12 miles from the seafront, so you can spend weekends exploring hidden coves or enjoying pristine beaches. Or you can head the same distance inland up to Dartmoor to experience its striking landscapes.
Even though it's tucked in the south-west of the UK, Plymouth is also well connected. Direct trains run to London, Bristol, Birmingham and Exeter, among other UK cities. Airports in Exeter and Newquay serve a range of national and international destinations.

You can get support from the careers team even after you graduate, for life. This includes booking one-to-one sessions with careers advisers.
By giving you work-related skills and vocational knowledge, the university will equip you well for your future career. Several of its courses lead directly to jobs such as teaching and nursing.

Plymouth Marjon has seven different halls of residence plus a 38-house student village. Most first-years choose to stay in the university halls as it helps them meet other students and settle into uni life quickly. The houses in the student village are popular with mature students and continuing students.
All accommodation is on the campus, and all are self-catered with a shared kitchen-diner.
Accommodation costs range from £123 to £143 per week, with contracts of 42 weeks. The price includes heating, lighting, WiFi, personal contents insurance and communal cleaning, which makes it easier to budget and manage your living expenses.
You'll also benefit from 24/7 security and wellbeing support, plus an events programme to help students in halls make new friends.

The university offers a range of funding support to students on top of any support you get from the government. Scholarships and bursaries are non-repayable, so they won't add to your student debt.
Plymouth Marjon provides a bursary for care leavers and estranged students who are under 25. This includes a grant to help with living costs, along with plenty of support to help you apply for student finance or find part-time or full-time work.

Plymouth Marjon's main subjects include health, education, sport, media, and business. As the UK's first teacher-training college, founded in 1838, Marjon builds on its history as one of the leading teacher training providers in the South West.
In the Complete University Guide, Plymouth Marjon regularly makes the UK top ten for student satisfaction and recently, it's more often in the top five. Meaning its students rate it very highly! The university attributes this to its small-group teaching, which both challenges students and builds their confidence.
As well as three-year undergraduate degrees, Plymouth Marjon also offers two-year foundation degrees. These are equal to the first two years of a bachelor's degree. After completing a foundation degree, you can choose to take a year-long top-up degree to qualify with a full bachelor's degree. This may suit you if you can't commit to a three-year degree in one go, giving you an initial qualification that you can build on when and if you choose to.
You may be able to add an extra placement year into some degrees, giving you the chance to gain valuable workplace experience and build your professional network before you graduate. The uni also offers some integrated master's degrees that are four years long.
Some undergraduate courses may be available to study part-time. For these, you must apply directly to the university rather than through UCAS.
