My experience at University of Brighton confidently prepared me for the future and allowed me to discover the best version of myself. Living in such a creative and vibrant city made every day feel like an adventure, and studying in Brighton offered the perfect balance between academic growth and an exciting student lifestyle.
As an international student, feeling a sense of belonging was essential, and Brighton exceeded my expectations. From the very first day, the university’s welcoming and inclusive community made me feel at home. The international orientation programme was especially valuable, helping me form some of my closest friendships and making the transition to university life in the UK far less stressful than I had anticipated.
The level of student support available throughout my degree was exceptional. Whether navigating academic challenges or personal concerns and exploring future opportunities , I always felt guided rather than overwhelmed. My student support guidance tutor and academic tutor were consistently available, offering help with assignments and regularly checking in on my wellbeing to ensure I was having a positive student experience. This personalised approach helped me stay motivated, confident, and supported at every stage of my studies.
Career development was embedded into my student experience from the very beginning. The careers and employability team supported me in creating my first CV in my first year, securing part-time work in the city, and gaining clarity about my long-term goals. Even after graduating, their continued guidance has helped me align my interests with meaningful career opportunities, demonstrating the university’s genuine investment in its students’ futures.
Beyond academics, student societies were central to my experience at Brighton. Through joining different societies, I was able to explore my interests outside the classroom, build friendships across disciplines, and feel part of a wider, supportive student community. The connections I formed and the memories created through shared activities became some of the most meaningful and rewarding parts of my university experience.
Having access to three distinct campuses across the city further enriched my experience. The City Campus offered a creative and cosmopolitan environment, surrounded by Brighton’s thriving arts and social scene. Moulsecoomb Campus provided a more urban and academic atmosphere, conveniently positioned between the city centre and Falmer. Falmer Campus felt like a traditional campus university, with expansive green spaces, a strong sense of community, excellent facilities, and the Amex Stadium nearby, creating a unique blend of campus life and local pride.
Across all campuses, the facilities are well maintained and thoughtfully designed, with excellent access to libraries, study spaces, and up-to-date equipment that support both academic success and student wellbeing.
Reflecting on my overall experience, the University of Brighton offered far more than a degree. It provided a supportive environment in which I could grow academically, professionally, and personally, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to students seeking a university that truly invests in their development.

The International Business Management course at University of Brighton provided me with an excellent balance of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, equipping me with the skills needed to thrive in a future business career.
In my first year, the course offered a broad foundation across key areas of business, including finance, marketing, strategy, and leadership. This wide-ranging introduction allowed me to gain a strong understanding of how different business functions work together. In my final two years, we built on this foundation in greater depth, and I was able to tailor my studies by choosing elective modules that aligned with my interests and career goals.
I particularly enjoyed the Creativity in Enterprise, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Marketing and Communications modules. Creativity in Enterprise further developed my ability to work effectively in diverse teams and approach problem-solving without rigid boundaries—skills that will be especially valuable multicultural business contexts. The module encouraged innovative thinking and helped me explore creative approaches to developing unique solutions. The Small Business and Entrepreneurship module provided practical insight into the process of creating a business from concept to implementation. I learned how to generate ideas using creativity informed by market research, as well as how to manage scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder communication. A key outcome of this module was the development of a comprehensive business plan with my team, which I now view as a practical template for future business reports and proposals. In the Marketing and Communications module, I applied branding, advertising, sales promotion, consumer psychology, and public relations techniques to develop a marketing campaign for ACT on Cancer. Working on a real-world project with a live client, with the aim of encouraging breast screening attendance within a targeted consumer segment, was highly motivating and rewarding. Knowing that our work had a genuine social impact made the learning experience particularly meaningful.
My lecturers and tutors delivered engaging, well-structured sessions supported by high-quality learning materials, and they were always approachable when it came to providing guidance on assignments. I consistently felt that my ideas and contributions were valued in class, and that tutors were genuinely invested in helping me to succeed both academically and personally. A particularly valuable aspect of the course was the emphasis on real-world relevance. Many tutors invited business professionals and alumni to share their industry experiences during sessions, which not only brought the content to life but also provided meaningful networking opportunities. These insights gave me a clearer understanding of how my learning applied to real business contexts.
The course timetable was thoughtfully structured, with a balanced mix of lectures and seminars spread throughout the week. Classes were typically scheduled in manageable two-hour blocks, which made it easier to stay focused and absorb the material without feeling overwhelmed. With around 18 hours of contact time per week, I felt well connected to both the course content and my instructors, while still having enough time for independent study.
I particularly valued the flexibility built into the course structure, including the option to undertake a professional placement or study abroad after the first two years. This opportunity to gain practical business experience or international exposure added significant value to the degree. Overall, the International Business Management course combined academic rigour with real-world application, allowing me to develop both professional confidence and practical skills. I would highly recommend it to students looking for a business degree that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on experience.

What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Staying at Mithras Halls during my first year at University of Brighton was a genuinely memorable experience and made my transition to living abroad for the first time much easier. The accommodation offered a strong balance of comfort, convenience, and community, which helped me settle into university life quickly.
The location was ideal for a first-year student. Being just a two-minute walk from Moulsecoomb Campus meant getting to classes was quick and stress free, while the short bus journey into the city made it easy to explore Brighton and enjoy student life. This balance helped me feel confident navigating both campus and the city very early on.
The facilities provided were reliable, affordable, and well managed. Essentials such as WiFi and utilities worked consistently without any issues. Shared spaces like the laundry room, study areas, and social spaces made everyday tasks easy and convenient. Having everything so accessible really helped me settle into a routine.
The accommodation itself felt modern and well maintained and did not feel like a typical student dorm. My room was spacious and comfortable, with a good desk for studying and an en suite bathroom that gave me a sense of privacy and independence. The shared kitchen and living area was also very large and was cleaned weekly by staff, which made living with flatmates much easier. With two sets of appliances, including stoves and fridges, the space worked well for everyone. The sofas and TV created a relaxed living room atmosphere where we could unwind together after classes, which helped the flat feel like home.
Support and safety were strong throughout my time in the halls. Whenever there was a maintenance issue, property management responded quickly and followed up to make sure everything had been resolved. Student Union representatives also visited regularly to invite us to events and check in on how we were settling in socially, which made a real difference. I always felt safe living on campus, even at night, thanks to the visible security team.
Having eight flatmates felt like the perfect balance. It encouraged social interaction and friendships without ever feeling overcrowded. Another great perk was having the student bar and gym located directly below the halls. With student discounts available, these facilities were easy to use and became part of my daily routine.
Overall, my experience living at Mithras Halls was incredibly positive and provided the perfect introduction to independent living for the first time. It offered excellent value for money and played a big role in making my first year at university comfortable, social, and enjoyable.
