University of Brighton is a great institution with excellent staff who always go the extra mile to help support you with your studies and to soothe any worries you may have. The City campus is fantastic, you are right by the sea and in the heart of Brighton and you can be overlooking the stunning Pavilion whilst sat in a seminar. The facilities could be slightly more accessible, with the reintroduction of paper readers for students who cannot access electronic ones, plus disabled access to all parts of the City campus. Overall, my time at Brighton so far has been fantastic. The lecturers are incredibly knowledgable and offer their time when you need it. The student support team is also great, being prompt to respond to emails and arrange sessions if you have any issues around your course or general well-being. Plus, the uni has great extra curricular activities, always hosting talks from people outside of the uni on a range of topics, engaging students in a vast range of societies and hosting well-being aimed workshop and activities such as dog walks. I would recommend the University of Brighton, particularly to arts, fashion or humanities student and there is an air of creativity in both the university and the city itself.

The course that I study is varied, diverse and has a great interdisciplinary approach; every module makes sense and I have found all aspects of it enriching. The seminars are interesting and have definitely improved my communication and debate skills. I feel the course facilitates a lot of transferable skills, such as meeting deadlines, writing essays, researching and crafting and delivering presentations. I feel the contact time is sufficient and I feel the staff empower you to be able to research yourself and grow as an academic. Pre and post essay tutorials are offered to aid you with your marked work and these prove helpful with being able to reflect on constructive feedback and improve. All of our lectures and seminars are in person and this is very positive as I do not feel I’m missing out on the learning experience. If you email lecturers, they are always prompt to respond and provide help needed such as recommend texts, offer feedback or even just offer encouragement.
