I love this uni. The courses are well structured and the campus is lovely. My only issue is that it can be quite expensive, particularly to live nearby, and the buses to campus can make it difficult to get to lectures.
As a first-year student who joined the University of Bath in September, my experience so far has been both exciting and challenging in the best way. One of the best aspects has been the supportive academic environment. Lecturers and tutors are clearly passionate about their subjects and are approachable, which has made the transition from school to university much less intimidating. The campus itself is also a huge highlight , having everything in one place, from lecture theatres to study spaces and sports facilities, makes daily life convenient and helps create a strong sense of community. Another great aspect has been how welcoming the university is to new students. Freshers’ events, societies, and group work opportunities made it easy to meet people and feel settled, even in the first few weeks. Bath really encourages a balance between academics and wellbeing, which has helped me grow more independent and confident in a short space of time. The main challenge so far has been adjusting to the workload and pace of university study. At times, deadlines across different modules can feel clustered together, especially as a first-year still learning how to manage time effectively. In addition, the campus can feel quite busy during peak study periods, particularly when looking for quiet study spaces. To improve the experience, clearer communication around assessment timelines and additional quiet study areas during busy periods would be really beneficial, especially for new students adjusting to university life. Overall, despite the initial challenges, my experience at the University of Bath has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s a place that pushes you academically while also supporting you personally, making it a great environment to study and grow.
The city of bath is incredible safe and a beautiful place to live. However the campus isn’t as good looking
The Uni and town are nice but very expensive.
The city is lovely with a great mix of being in the countryside and close to the city. Whilst it is a relatively quiet city there is so much to do with Bristol only 15 mins away if you wanted a bigger night out. The sports facilities are great and the study spaces are good. The worst thing is probably the fact it is quite an expensive city.
The campus environment is a great one for both work and sports. The social life on campus is also excellent. Our course facilities are incredibly useful and the library makes for a great place to work with friends.
The student union is owned by the uni which obviously makes it worse. The campus could do with more green spaces and less big grey buildings or more interesting buildings. And most departments could do with a big refurbishment.
It’s a beautiful location lots to do
I love the campus feel of the uni, everything is in one place and that makes you feel more part of the community. Oftentimes though the uni doesn’t advertise events enough for everyone to participate
Great
Great environment to live in Landry facilities need to be improved
- Support is incredible - School of management is the best faculty! - Honestly no thoughts for improvement off the top of my head. I’m a bath student ambassador too purely because I love the uni and the experience it’s given me No complaints!
Beautiful city, good support with issues and also with placements. Campus is a little worn down and few places to study easily due to large number of students. Academically mostly sound, although varies lecturer to lecturer or by unit.
Bath is a great place to study as it has such a beautiful campus, great facilities (e.g. STV), lovely and kind people who support you and overall a very academic and motivated university
Students are very dedicated - lots of support from academic staff, learnings are applicable to industry and future life
Lovely city. Night life is ok but not great. Campus is small but friendly. Life sciences department quite run down and not loads of funding.
I love the campus, as theres lots of places to study like the library and the multiple cafes, theres also outdoor spaces. I also love that the campus isnt too big but also not too small.
The university is a really friendly and welcoming environment. Bath feels like a really close community and a great student city. The lecturers and academic staff are all really friendly and are great at what they do. The buildings aren't the nicest and there aren't enough places to study

Bath is a beautiful city and place to study , You can easily disconnect from study time and go for a nice evening in the city without feeling unsafe. Especially since most people you encounter are also students. The library provides great facilities and exam prep material . The only improvement i could think of is perhaps more subject specific help such as forums online for each subject if not already a thing.
My course is such a large cohort of your ever struggling there is always someone who knows what you don’t and who can help you out and vice versa creating a good community feel amongst students. The lecturers are top of their field and really knowledgable about what they lecture on and clearly are interested in what they teach. Course hours are good as i finish before 13:00 most days allowing me to free up evenings and therefore keep my social life.
Easy to keep a social life and provide friends pretty quickly so you never feel alone. However i dislike the seating area in my accommodation specifically as it is pretty uncomfy but the starter packs the university/Reslife teams provide are cool and help break the ice quick with Uno , Cards, and even cookie mix. My room is a decent size with a large desk and En-suite a must have for accommodation and so I’d say the accommodation is great value for money especially with built in LED mood lighting !
