The city needs more student accommodation

More contact time would be good, longer seminars, I like that there are no exams

No

The area is super vibrant and the night life is great. The course is generally interesting, however one thing I would change is the communication with personal and subject tutors. Whilst some are extremely good at communicating with students, personal tutor meetings only ever occur a handful of times a year. It would be great if there was greater contact especially with personal tutors as this would help students feel more comfortable discussing their issues with general uni life and their mental health. Though, there is always something going on with the student union, and the amount of clubs and societies there are is really impressive. There is always something for everyone from transcendental meditation to crochet and knitting, to fintech and debating.

Course hours are extremely long and there is a lot of reading material to get through. A big issue at the beginning of the year (and still continuing now) is timetables. Some people have timetables which include 4 seminars in one week, and one in the next - this makes its extremely difficult find time to do other things, as one week you are blocked up and the other you are prepping for the heavy week. Another issue is that I find there is a lack of discourse on our discussion pages, I think there needs to be a large emphasis on using these discussion boards for allowing students to ask more questions - it seems only a handful of students are utilising these. The lecture content is great, and most lecturers seem genuinely passionate. I would prefer, in seminars, if there was greater emphasis placed on answering exam questions/problem questions as this would make students feel more prepared for the actual exams that will take place.

The buildings and facilities available are a great mix of modern and classical, there is also the added bonus of Banksy's artwork which adds to the clash of modernity and historic architecture. The nightlife is always great and many of my friends at other universities have noted this - there is a wide range of music venues and rave locations which makes us very spoilt for choice. Bristol is also very keen on environmentalism and ending littering which is a really positive sign for a city. There is always the opportunity to go shopping or just for a nice long scenic walk, it's definitely versatile.

Property management was a big issue for my accomodation, the staff in the reception were not always the friendliest (especially the night time staff). some wouldnt even answer our emails when we notified them of electrical issues and a faulty oven - which took over a month to fix. Parcels were often found missing, even after couriers would send proof of them being delivered. In regards to location, it was fantastic. Super close to the Broadmead shopping quarter and night clubs on Park Street. It was fairly safe as there was an electrical door/gate which allowed only some people in. there was also further security systems in place once you entered the building which was comforting to know.
