My experience at the university of Bristol has been really excellent so far. My first year was everything I had hoped it would be even with COVID taking out the final few months and my second year has been even better. The teaching is excellent in my experience of the geography department and my course is really enjoyable. I particularly love the range of unit choices in geography because you can pursue your own interests and play to your strengths. The support at UOB has been great both academically and personally and the city is an amazing place to explore during your studies. I would 100% recommend the university of Bristol to anyone who wants a fun and challenging university experience in a wonderful city.

There are so many facilities and they are located all throughout Bristol so there is a space where ever you would like. The study spaces are really nice and some are very modern and most of them are near shops and green spaces so you can stretch your legs or get some food on study breaks. The gym and sports facilities are also excellent and the gym is really central and easy to get to.

In my opinion the personal support is excellent. There are so many different ways to get support for all levels of concerns and problems from peer support to personal tutors to counselling etc. I think the uni is very supportive and accommodating especially when I have had any issues around exams or completing work I have received lots of support.

There is lots of academic support available in many forms such as Peer mentors, group study sessions with older students, personal tutors and lecturers. The blend of online and in person teaching and been really good in my opinion and the option to watch recordings of lectures really makes uni work very flexible.

There is lots of careers events and professional development opportunities but many of them are voluntary so not many people know/use them. Personally I think the careers service is really great and there’s many different workshops, events and talks for people at all stages of career development. The geography department itself is also great at publicising internship opportunities and career development ideas.
