My timetable was messed up during freshers week so I was disadvantaged by making new friends on my course, as well as meeting my lecturers and understanding the course of the modules. My lecturers are very helpful and reply back to emails quickly and upload the contents as fast as possible. I did sign up for the Law Society and was disappointed to find that there was not much going on.

My course is taught in class, with tutorials every other week for maximum improvement and any questions asked are answered by my lecturers in this time. Course hours are good, although my timetable is ever changing and quite confusing/ unpredictable with my out of uni hours. Some of my lecturers cancel the lessons quite often due to issues at home, and I can’t fully understand them sometimes due to language barriers or because they’re too quiet. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoy my course and the content and the lecturers make a keen job to make sure they go through it thoroughly. However, most of the content is on powerpoints that I can easily access at home and I sometimes find them easier to do at home rather than attend the actual lessons.

The halls themselves are very accessible with the town centre only a 10 minute walk away. Shops are very close by. Upstairs are quite loud at times and if I message the staff they are quick to resolve the issue as well as being locked out etc. Darley Bank is situated on the brook which is frequently visited by drug dealers and addicts - I can see them dealing outside my kitchen window as my accommodation faces the brook. Police don’t frequently visit that side and we don’t have curtains (despite asking for them) so sometimes I feel unsafe with the people stood outside of my accommodation. Despite all of that, the halls are very clean and RA’s are exceptionally helpful.

I believe the lecturers could give a bit more support to the students who seek it.

I would like for the University to give 1st years more opportunities for work experience.
