It's in a great location, 20mins from Leeds and 30mins from Manchester, everything is in walking distance from the campus including several student accommodation sites. The Course I studied, Graphic Design, offers the optional placement year which I found gave me invaluable experience of working i the industry.
My course is very interesting and a good mix of business and computing, I'm glad I chose it. I have around 12 hours of lectures and tutorials a week, which is perfect. All the lecturers are friendly and approachable, and I like studying here! I do not like the food from the canteen and i found it really hard that i need to cook for my self but in the end of the day you will end up going out with your friends and you forget about eating.
In terms of University Life - at Hudd there is an enormous amount going on. One thing you should consider if you are a keen sportsperson is which college you apply to. The university teams are strong in almost every sport, but when it comes to playing inter-collegiate matches, unless you join one of more sporting colleges you could be disappointed by the standard. The music scene is vivid - there are literally hundreds of little orchestras and groups and concerts and the like - if you play anything and want to get involved, then the music here is brilliant.
The student accommodation I lived before I believe that the one that is closer to the city centre is closer to the uni. I think the facilities are really great, is got a good reputation but the night life is poor and the university had a good reputation but they need to improve the local aria. I allays found the tutors to be really helpful and the literary is really goo.
All of my teachers in biology made mistakes and all of them with the expetion of one only waffled during the 'lecture' hardly giving any real information and that information contained mistakes. In the laboratory the assistants screamed at students regularly and the atmosphere was very unpleasant.
Theres plenty of pubs! Infact there are now over 53 pubs and clubs, and for a small town with a population of less than 15000 thats a lot! Ive been told it has the most pubs per sq mile in the UK!
There is a wide range of different on-campus accommodation possibilities available, however you cannot be sure to receive a room in your preferred housing alternative.
I encountered language problems only when talking to certain local students because of their use of slang. All academic staff, however, was easily understandable.
Food and eating out in Huddersfield Is fine, but it's nothing any more special than anywhere else, and I wouldn't say there's a variety of placews for every occasion - for example, there is very very little which caters for people such as vegans (although there will soon be a vegetarian and vegan society who will be looking to improve options for people with dietary limitations).
The night-life in Hudd is notoriously bad, but all things considered I don't think it deserves this record. In truth there aren't many places where there are nearly thirty students-only bars (the colleges) which in theory you are only allowed into if you're a member of that college, but in practise no-one cares. The prices are very good, and on the whole the bars are decent. I do not like the food but is ok because i forget about it when i am thinking that Leeds is so close and there are plenty of bars and restaurants that i can go.
There are obvious tradeoffs between doing a technical course such as this one. Whilst you have a very firm understanding of the theoretical aspects of computing, there is a whole world of practical knowledge that you have to acquire via your own methods. This boils down to saying that you will not be automatically employable at the end of the course, but that you will have to learn yourself some of the practical skills that some employers prefer.
The Hudd vary like any university but as it's a campus they are all close. There are two main en suite ones called Jack Martin and Aurthur Vick but Rootes residences are also brilliant and there are some flats if you want a cosier environment.
I would like to say that i am really happy choosing this University. I am an international student and after three mounts i already feel like Huddersfield is my second town. I had the chance to meet great people here and great tutors. I love the classes and the fact that they provide us with pc whenever i want to use one.
Hudd is a relatively small University which I quite like. It means that you are pretty likely bump into a few people you know each day. The uni also has a few club nights a week in the Union which are generally a great laugh. Only downside is that drinks tend to be more expensive then other universities, but there are offers on most days. I get used living in here and i really like it. I advice everyone to came here because is a good uni.
My biggest criticism of Hudd is the night life. Others would disagree but most of the Hudd clubs resemble cattle sheds or dungeons (all are underground). Because the clubs are poor, you don't really get any good DJ's/bands visiting, and the regular nights seem to rotate cheese, 70's/80's and funk. Anything else tends to be pretty unpopular. A lot of people still really enjoy themselves and if cheese is not your thing, then Bristol is a really short train ride away.
The gym is really great they just finish renovated it is all brand new. I like it because is big. About the accommodation I can not say that much because I do not really like it. The rooms are quite small. And you need luck to find some roommates that respect some rules and keep the house clean. The University is nice and even people are great. I do not like the food from the Student Union because they change it this year.
Most of the clubs are really good a few are a bit exclusive and clique but in my experience people at Hudd are really friendly. The union also has welfare services that can provide advice on a range of subjects. Also on campus there is the largest purpose built Arts Center which contains another bar and also has a vary varied program of arts events.
Hudd also actively supports industrial 3rd year placements which I would consider essential for anyone. I have also learnt that employers have a large amount of interest in students from Hudd, especially those with a distaste for any of 'The Big Three'. My industrial placement is at one of the worlds largest pharmaceutical companies, which has only recruited students from Hudd Uni for the past two years. I believe that this is a great plus for every one in every field
The guide and support given by the tutors is good. They help the first years adapt to their new environment quickly. There is also a lot of space around the university for people to work or relax. Overall it is a good place to be.

I've had a brilliant time at the uni. I think my lecturers are brilliant and my course content is very interesting. Help and advice is provided for graduate jobs. I love the town. I'm not involved with any of the societies though because of lack of time, which is a shame.
There are great shops in town, great nightlife.
I don't have enough free time to get involved :(
