Lecturers support
The spread out campus and accommodation sometimes makes it difficult to commute to lessons especially during the winter or if you are sick. The teachers have all been very supportive and helpful, lessons are well structured and easy to follow without leaving anything to question
The facilities are nice, with supportive people around. What could be improved is if there was more help to find placement year.
Before applying at University of Derby I had great recommendation from friends who attended this university, this motivated me to come. I'm very happy with the support and teaching standard so far and i would recommend a friend too.
The course is good, but the modules could do with a reshuffle as they would make more sense with some second semester modules being first module
Redundancies at the uni had made the lectures a little unsettled, different lecturer’s, seems a little chaotic at times
Everyone is very friendly and I feel as though I’m getting the most out of my course and the tutors are fantastic at presenting the work and guiding you along the way as well as letting you be independent. Could have more left handed instruments though for my course haha
Central location, good sized library, great food outlets. Derby Uni has all of the facilities required for a nursing degree, from classrooms for smaller class sizes to lecture theatres and auditoriums for larger sessions, mock wards and clinical areas to practice clinical skills. Nursing staff/tutors are fab, very knowledgable, encouraging, and offer great support towards achieving the degree. Parking on the other hand is insufficient, the on-site parking needs to be much bigger to accommodate the amount of students that enrol every academic year. Although a bus service between campuses and the city centre was provided free of charge upon showing a student id card, there is now a charge for this service. The University do have an arrangement with MiPermit for parking in a near recreational park however, the criteria for allocating MiPermits to park in these car parks at a reduced cost is very strict and therefore not every student will be given this opportunity.
The best part of my uni experience has definitely been the people. I’ve made such amazing friends here, and they’ve truly made my time at university so special. There’s such a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. I’ve always felt encouraged both academically and personally, and it really feels like everyone wants each other to succeed. It’s an awesome place to study because of that strong sense of community and support. If I had to suggest an improvement, it would maybe be clearer communication during busy periods. Overall though, my experience has been incredibly positive and I feel very grateful for the friendships and support I’ve gained.
Lecturers are amazing! So much stuff around the campus, easy to access, cheap for food

Teachers are so cooperative
It’s a good school, just need to improve on teaching standards
Great public transport links between the university and the halls of residence, city centre and the train station.
Really supportive and friendly lecturers
Safe environment.
Great university with great facilities however I have asked for support with quite a few things and didn’t get support
2 out of 3 of my lecturers were made redundant mid-semester, leaving us with gaps in teaching, missed sessions and having to be taught by lecturers from other courses. Strikes impacted learning, missing 2-3 lectures in a single semester. MyAttendance are poor, and do not regulate attendance properly- I’ve emailed several times to confirm/correct my attendance and they haven’t updated it.

I've felt very comfortable studying in Derby overall. Everyone is friendly and supportive, there's quite a lot going on, all the facilities you need. I think like anywhere at times you need to stay proactive and ask for the help if you need it, but if you are willing to ask there will be someone willing to help. I'm glad I chose to study in Derby.
I feel the course I'm on is very reasonable and supportive first year. Just don't be afraid to ask for help and someone will be willing to help if needed and possible.
My accommodation is perhaps the most affordable student accommodation, but it's amazing value for money so I'm very happy here. They are very supportive, there's plenty going on when you live here such as activities you can attend. The staff are very supportive and ensure the facilities are up to scratch the best they can. Even when there has been small issues, the staff have had people on the job very quickly so it wasn't an issue for long.
