So close to the train station so really easy access - all buildings are relativity close to each other at city campus so it’s not a big issue if your next class is in a different building. Most of the lecturers are very helpful and especially in my course there is a couple who you can really tell love their job and what they are doing and have so much knowledge which is inspiring! Definitely things to be improved - some of gaps between lecture or seminars and also the timings can be frustrating. It makes it difficult to work alongside the course especially if you are commuting in. It comes down to having to prioritise which might not always be able to be university. They are not check ins with you either and if there is a problem I don’t think they solve it well.
The teachers are lovely, very helpful to me as I’m an estranged student and was really struggling when I first came to the campus. I live a little far out in Barnsley so the fact my building Surrey is so close to the station is great, doesn’t even feel like a commute

Lots of support available and staff are constantly looking for our feedback too.
The redmires building is amazing and the lectures for politics and international relations really do excel. They aren’t the types just to read off a PowerPoint they really do give you the additional information for you to progress making it so much more accessible for those who didn’t do politics Alevel. The assignments also make you think outside the box they aren’t just so back to back essays. The worst aspect is probably just how spread out the classes are in the week making it a bit difficult to juggle employment and uni but there has definitely been ways around it
Support generally seems available and there for you - course is good and the timetable works well for me - very condensed into 1/2 days so I can work on the others. Lecturers are friendly and supportive and the campus location couldn't be better - centre of Sheffield right opposite the train station. Whilst there is huge investment in new buildings, some rooms/ buildings are really lacking.
My time at Sheffield Hallam has honestly been a great mix of good teaching, friendly people, and a city that’s actually enjoyable and more affordable than other cities. Sheffield is super student-friendly, easy to get around, full of green spaces, and having the Peak District so close is a massive bonus when you need a break from uni life. Hallam itself is supportive, the tutors are approachable, and there’s always something going on around campus. My advice to prospective students would be is to get involved early, try out a few societies, make the most of the support services, and explore the city as much as you can. There’s loads to do and it really makes the whole uni experience feel more like home.
University for me has been a mix of amazing highs and tough lows. I’ve loved the independence being able to choose my own schedule, study what actually interests me, and meet people who’ve become really important in my life. There have been so many opportunities to grow and try new things, and that part has been genuinely exciting. But it hasn’t all been easy. The workload can get overwhelming, the financial pressure is always in the background, and there are times when I’ve felt stressed or even lonely, even with people around. Overall, it’s been a messy but meaningful experience that’s shaped me in ways I didn’t expect.
Great student Accomodation, more support for estranged students
worst - facilities spread all over the city and not all within a reasonable distance of each other best - the sports facilities are excellent with the use of the EIS, and having the chance to be taught by top quality tutors who have excellent knowledge and experience in their own domain
Sheffield is an amazing city with lots to do and see.
Hallam is a great place to study as they offer a variety of courses and have many facilities and buildings for your education. An improvement could be regarding the timetable as some lessons have a large gap in between them, which may result in students leaving early in the day and not attending the second lesson.
Sheffield Hallam has a lot of study spaces, support and advice for students. It’s in an easy and accessible location and has a lot to offer for students, activity wise and educationally.
The best aspects of my uni experience include meeting new people, learning to live independently and discovering what I want to do for my career. I love Sheffield for it's community and that it's cheaper than other many cities to live in. I want to stay here for a bit after my degree in some way or another. The uni has some really nice tutors that I feel comfortable with to come to with any issues. I think it could be improved by improving the student union as I don't know of many people that use the student union and it's a shame because my friends at other universities say they love their student union.
Phenomenal University, plenty of opportunities and experiences. Hands on staff help and support. Great amenities and facilities! Occasionally has unfortunate and odd timetabling but generally speaking. Great stuff!
One of the best parts was the sense of independence, it was the first time I really learned how to manage my own time, take responsibility for my work, and explore subjects I was genuinely interested in. On the other hand, balancing coursework, deadlines, and personal life could get overwhelming, especially during exam periods and before submitting coursework.
The best aspect is definitely the teaching staff that Sheffield Hallam university provide. I wouldn’t say worst but the parking in or around the university
Worst aspect is probably lectures not being recorded for my course and best are the lecturers and the support they give.
I love the location of the univeristy as well as all the shops that surround it. The environment is very chill and also very calming, I often like to sit in any of the different campus locations to study due to the vibes. I personally don't think theres anything to improve on as of now.
I love how much space the university has during class/lunch breaks. It offers computers as well as many quiet areas to work on assignment and class notes which I love as I struggle to study at home. I love how the building has staff to help when entering as this helped me with my first day getting to my class as I was lost. There are many toilet facilities all around the buildings, this helps me to prevent not going as I know I will not miss much lesson time as they will be a toilet close by. I like how there is a library and a quiet space near the library if the main canteen is full/crowded. There are many issues I could discuss, one being the support from teachers. I think they lack support they offer and many of my classmates including myself all agree that if we had more help we would feel more confident for the lessons/subjects. We feel like we have been let down within not having our support for our course. I believe the canteen could be improved as it does not have a wide variety of offers. I like safe foods and I've really enjoyed the chilli and the jacket potatoes, however many days it says chilli is on the menu, however when it comes to lunch time no chilli is being served. This means I either have to go without or have jacket potato again. I think more variety of food could be offered and I also believe the sandwich selection is also not great too. Me and my friend decided to try a chicken tikka sub, all the salad was rotten, soggy and wilted. We then both had no lunch as there was nothing else we liked in the canteen. I would also say travel, I know this cannot be improved but trying to get to my building is hard and requires me to get taxis majority of the time I am in. if I get a bus or train it will take me roughly 2-3 hours. This is hard for me to travel at this time as I have responsibilities at home to complete. Overall, I believe that the staff support and the food are the main issues I've came across so far. However, I am still enjoying uni and my course.

Love the city campus so close to everything including accommodations, train station and city centre. The uni has a good feel of community as well
Blended learning is good, but seminars could be better- they mainly are just teachers reading off power points with some discussions but they aren’t very relevant or engaging
Love the location and condition of the accom, it’s just very expensive
