Very good support and facilities, especially for dentistry. Not much campus vibe but student life and events are very good.

My experience at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) has been a mixture of personal growth, independence, and challenge. One of the best aspects has been how much more independent I have become since starting university. Moving from a structured school environment to a system where I am responsible for managing my own time, deadlines, and motivation was initially overwhelming. However, over time, I developed stronger organisational skills and confidence in my ability to handle academic pressure. This sense of independence has been one of the most valuable parts of my university experience because it has prepared me for future responsibilities beyond education. Another positive aspect has been the diversity of the student community. QMUL brings together people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds, which has made the environment feel inclusive and interesting. Meeting people with different perspectives has broadened my understanding of the world and made group discussions more engaging. The campus itself also contributes positively to the experience. Compared to other London universities, QMUL has more of a campus feel, which creates a stronger sense of community. Having access to libraries, study spaces, and social areas in one place makes it easier to balance academic and social life. Academically, there have been many rewarding moments, particularly when lecturers are passionate and supportive. When teaching is engaging and clear, it motivates me to put more effort into learning. Access to resources such as online materials and study spaces has also supported my learning. Being based in London is another advantage, as it provides exposure to career opportunities, events, and experiences outside the classroom that contribute to personal development. However, there have also been challenges. One of the most difficult aspects has been managing workload and stress, especially during periods when multiple deadlines occur at the same time. At times, this has felt overwhelming, affecting motivation and well-being. While academic challenge is expected, better spacing of deadlines or more structured support during busy periods could improve the student experience. Communication has sometimes also been unclear, particularly regarding assignment expectations or administrative processes, which can create unnecessary anxiety. Feedback on assessments is another area that could be improved. Detailed and timely feedback is essential for understanding mistakes and improving future work, but sometimes feedback can feel too brief to be fully helpful. More personalised guidance would make it easier to develop academically and feel more confident about progress. Socially, adjusting to university life can take time. Large lectures can sometimes feel impersonal, and building friendships requires effort, especially for students who commute. More structured opportunities for interaction or peer support could help students feel more connected, particularly in the first year. In addition, study spaces can become crowded during exam periods, adding stress when preparing for assessments. Overall, my experience at QMUL has been both positive and challenging, but ultimately very valuable. The independence, diversity, and opportunities for growth make it a great place to study, while improvements in communication, feedback, and student support could make the experience even better. The university has helped me grow not only academically but also personally, and that development is the most important outcome of my time here.
Distance from central, good quality education.
One of the strongest positives of studying at Queen Mary University of London is the diversity of the student body. You genuinely interact with people from all over the world, which makes seminars and group work more interesting and realistic. I’ve also found that when lecturers are good, they are really good — approachable, knowledgeable, and willing to help if you take the initiative. Some tutors genuinely care about student development rather than just delivering content, and that has made a big difference to my motivation. The campus atmosphere feels lively, and there are plenty of societies and events, which helps if you actively try to get involved. Worst aspects / areas for improvement: The biggest downside has been the lack of consistency and efficiency in administration. Communication can be slow, unclear, or last-minute, which is frustrating and stressful, especially when it involves assessments, deadlines, or timetables. Often, you have to chase multiple people to get a straight answer. Study spaces are another major issue — during busy periods it’s genuinely difficult to find a seat in the library or a quiet place to work, which directly affects productivity. At times, the university feels more focused on recruitment and branding than on fixing these everyday problems that impact students daily. Better communication, faster support responses, and improved access to study spaces would noticeably improve the student experience.
The central location of the Whitechapel campus makes it good to study at.
amazing location - great food spots and good hospital placements !
I love how many study spaces there are, and eating places on campus. The campus is very convenient. Also student union is amazing, there are so many clubs and activities, it's really easy to get involved, meet new people, and have some fun. I think the student support could be better at transitioning, going from a levels to uni is a massive change, and that was really overwhelming at first
Pros: Transport Access Nearby shops Cons: Expensive campus store prices
Good community, good support, enjoyed the teaching and experience of studying here.
I think the university is a really positive environment - our lecturers really care about student feedback, they also care about our wellbeing and remind us of important information. You can really tell they want the best for us and I think it really helps students to do well as we are supported properly.
Best is that there are many events every week to build your social life Worst is that I think the campus buildings apart from the biology one and queens building is not aesthetically pleasing
I love Queen Mary but i have to say that the location is not ideal. Indeed, it takes us some time to go to the center of London and obviously we have to pay for it because we need to take the tube. But this is what it is, we cannot change the campus location ... However, this does not change the pleasant year I am having.
Great study areas, quiet and loud, good computer access, the only thing is the computers do not allow bluetooth joining which is very annoying when you want to connect headphones to listen to a video or something on the university computers.
The passion of the lecturers and the continually evolving modules are, by far, the best part of life at QM. The people are also lovely. Study spaces could be improved: there are not loads of options, and we could do with some comfier/cozie spots (especially for commuters who may have to spend long stretches on campus), maybe also some smaller and quieter spaces scattered around so all spots are not centralised.
I’ve really enjoyed the social aspect of university and have made such great friends through attending campus events and society socials. The university does a strong job of promoting and hosting a wide range of activities, which makes it easy to meet new people and feel part of the community. In terms of improvement, I think events could be promoted even earlier and across more platforms to ensure everyone is aware of what’s happening. It would also be helpful to have more small-group or themed events to encourage interaction, particularly for students who may find large socials overwhelming.
They've introduced "AskQM" for enquiries which takes a very long time and usually does not provide satisfactory answers/solutions. The library is great and has a lot of space but on the 3rd and 4th floors it's extremely cold, which causes illnesses and makes it difficult to study, while on the 1st and 2nd floors a lot of the chargers don't work.
Many facilities are available for us students. The campus is very pretty. No student will feel alone in QMUL. They have amazing society events too
Really good facilities for sciences

Best: good library, and great location everywhere nearby and some lecturers do really care about their students. Normally easy to contact lecturers and get more info on a course or exam guidance Worst: some lecturers are not available for much help and do not reply to emails. For the most part good
A lot of books available at the library if needed. 50/50 with good lecturers, some amazing some don’t care about the subject they’re teaching nor their students
Great next to smoking area in te middle. Had some leaks at start nd was resolved fairly quickly. Easy to break into but didn’t have any serious problems
