How close everything is a massive upside.

Living on Brackenhurst is great as you're on campus and it's only a 5 minute walk to the Bramley Building for lectures (especially if you overslept!). It's peaceful and quiet here compared to being in the city. The only major cons i could think of is that it's a 1 hour bus ride to get into Nottingham city and that being away from the city it feels like there's not much to do. Personally, i'm not very social but there's the Brack Bar, the Orangery and the Library as communal spaces.

As i'm in foundation, we're not given many assignments as this year is just to ease us in and be familiar with skills necessary for our later courses. The staff are so helpful with giving guidance in how to improve our work as well as using online services like dropbox. It's great that they also record the lectures in case you miss a lecture and it's easy to find. We only spend 10 hours a week either doing lectures or lab work so far. We also have course leaders within our group who we can talk to about the current course which they can discuss with staff to try to improve how a lecture is being done or how to provide better support for students.

Location, as previously stated is nice that it's peaceful and away from the city. However, if you're the type to enjoy city life or activities like clubbing, paying for ubers or buses might be a hassle (especially with the price increase). Safety, i feel safe because it's on campus and there's security cameras outside the buildings. I also feel safe around the people i'm around (but that's likely because we keep to ourselves). Room location, i currently live in the ground floor so at first it was very awkward seeing people walk by but after installing some sun catcher stickers it not only blurs the view for privacy but it'll look pretty when the sun shines through. Being on the bottom floor is convenient as i don't need to go up any floors after shopping or moving in. The internet and wifi is the same across the whole site i think which means i can connect it during lectures in Bramley Building and in my room. The only issue i have is that when it's by the orchard or animal unit buildings, the wifi is not so great so i always connect my laptop to my phone's data. Value for money, i paid for an ensuite in their more modern looking buildings and the kitchen is really spacious with a microwave (recently got an upgrade), 4 bread toaster and a kettle. The cooking hobs are electric! Property management, of course we're responsible for cleaning our own rooms but once a week someone comes in and cleans the kitchen.
