Amazing. I've learnt a great deal and the learning set up working in projects in specific roles/pipeline has helped a flawless transition into an industry role. I'm very thankful for the brilliant lecturers/tutors/technicians and all the facilities. It's a shame with the final term being completely remote, I had no access to the practical equipment (cameras/lighting/greens screen studio) etc provided for projects and was limited to just my own computer and the University software's. Because of this I don't think the final term was completely value for money... I also struggle to justify the insane price of Universities in general anyway. I think a fancy new dinner hall, new library sofas and more tropical greenery isn't a priority for me - I'd rather pay much less fees. However pretty campus aside, Falmouth has a brilliant practical course-related facilities with devoted teaching and I would recommend it to anyone!

The Film and Animation block was amazing! Great facilities, very clean, warm, just overall a comfortable and yet vibrant learning environment. They have a brilliant cinema room, some quieter studios, fast computers with lots of softwares and storage, green screen and motion capture facilities, stop motion studio and colour grading suites. Not forgetting the sound and audio dubbing theatres etc. Plenty of industry equipment to hire also for projects. There was so much on offer for the students and I couldn't fault any of it.

I'll admit I didn't use many of these services but I was always made aware they were though posters, emails, clubs, that they were there open for anyone and got the impression the University took great pride in this kind of support.

Before Covid 19 this course was taught in class using the studios and lecture theatres, a blend between large class sizes (the entire year group of about 80) or more intimate sizes of 15 or so. Teaching hours tended to be spread out throughout the week and tutors were in campus all day everyday around the studios (when not teaching) for an extra help needed. They were also very quick to reply to emails and would go the extra mile with feedback and spending extra time with you if needed. There were also very friendly technicians around and about the studios to help with any computer issues, who also knew a lot about the subject matter being taught on the course. During the lockdown, the University continued its teaching completely remotely and succeeded. We all quickly adapted to a strong organised system by screensharing and microsoft teams. The lecturers continued to inspire and support us virtually to the same level as before. I'm thankful my learning wasn't comprised by this quick transition. I never felt unsupported by my tutors. Now I believe the learning is blended.

Now stepping into Industry, I'm discovering more and more that Falmouth University has a great name and reputation. From the first term our tutors always encouraged us to get involved with Linkedin, external projects, notified us of internship opportunities etc. We had many brilliant industry guest speakers for all year groups come in almost every week which were always a great inspiration. In my final year, I really valued and learned a lot from the 'Professional Outlook' Module where we were encouraged to start communicating with current industry professionals and learn about their journeys and wisdom and just generally how to reach out and start connect with people online, as well as creating a website, business cards, an Artists CV, all curating our very own niche professional image. A perfect set-up for stepping into industry and made it all slightly less daunting.

It’s a fantastic location for people who enjoy quirky, independent shops, access to the outdoors and a small, friendly local community. The best part of Falmouth is the opportunities within the community and in nature. I think the accommodation options could be improved, lots of students comment on the bad maintenance of buildings - many being damp, mouldy and cold. They are also very expensive and I think effort could go towards cutting these costs down.

I am only in the second term of my first year so I cannot comment for the entire duration of the course, but so far I feel there has been little conversation about career prospects and the steps to take when leaving university. Although I believe this will probably come later on. Overall the course is fantastic and it’s evident the lecturers have applicable knowledge and real industry experience. There is a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. The lecturers endeavour to make the content engaging and relevant. There could be more contact hours with lecturers, but I would say the current amount is average.

Tuke house is the cheapest of the university’s halls of residence, so in comparison it feels like good value for money - but in reality it is still expensive considering I know many students who's loan doesn’t nearly cover the cost of rent. The rooms and kitchens are a bit dated and insulation/mould problems could be improved. Unlike Glasney the management office is not open 24/7 but rather 4 hours a day mon to fri, which can be a bit inconvenient. But overall this is a great option for accommodation and the location is incredible - close to both the town and the Falmouth campus. There are laundry facilities on site, which are quite good value for price.
