Great university located in a beautiful coastal town. The staff are kind and supportive, and there to help students in times of need. The SU organises events which support students, like the free pantry on Mondays, where those of us who are struggling due to cost of living can take food for free . Additionally, there are many facilities, like the printing room and the MAC suite, which students can use to help them with their course work material. Overall a lovely place filled with amazing people, but awful prices. The campus art shop, while handy, has high prices and the canteen food is extremely pricey too. They also do not accept any cash, which can be a hassle.

The course covers the broad range of illustration, from editorial to children's picture books, and teaches material in a useful and clear way. There are mandatory lectures several days of the week, especially when it comes to the dissertation. The preparation for the dissertation starts in the first year, with simple essays which become more complex through the three years. The content and techniques developed through those were extremely useful, and eased the anxiety of writing a final dissertation a little. The tutors are also available for support throughout the week outside of lectures, by offering tutorials and feedback sessions botj for dissertation and practical parts of the course (which can be booked via the Learning Space). The slots, however, are limited and fill up fast. The contact hours get lower as you progress through the years - first year was filled completely with activities and scheduled sessions while third year is more self-directed. It would be nice to have more sessions with tutors, especially the one to one feedback sessions, but in general the contact time is good. Sometimes there is miscommunication, and the content can become confusing, but tutors usually respond when emailing for clarification. The biggest negative was a sheer lack of trips - there was one whole class trip in first year to St Ives, which was informative, fun and exciting. Students didn't have to pay for this either. Second year only offered a trip to the students who wanted to undertake a very specific live brief (which not many of us did). In third year, however, a huge number of students was disappointed when the trip the infamous Bologna Book Fair was cancelled. This left the students having to plan the whole trip independently, including their stay, transport to the airport, flights, food, tickets to the fair etc. All of this had to be paid by the students independently.Although the staff was extremely supportive and great at providing useful information, it is terrifying to be at a busy fair full of thousands of strangers in a foreign country without an experienced guide to help. This caused a huge amount of stress to those students going. Overall, the course is informative and exciting, with lots of support from the staff. An enjoyable experience:)

I only stayed there for a month and moved into a private student house afterwards. The room allocation wasn't great - my course was on Falmouth campus and i got allocated a room in Penryn, which is a 20 minute bus ride away.

The location , the people, the atmosphere are so good. You the most nice view in your studio and friendly cornish surrounding you. Tutors are really helpful, they even help you to apply the placement and give you some advices.
