My university experience has been great. First year in halls made it really easy to make friends, and the nightlife was always a blast. My course has provided a decent amount of support, although this wasn’t so great in second year. The workload really does increase year upon year, and third year has been stressful. Don’t be fooled by cosmetically pleasing accommodation, and really try and view houses yourself and check it over as much as possible. I feel like I’m paying way too much money for a flat in which I barely sleep.

The study spaces in the libraries on both campuses are really good. However during the pandemic you have to book a 3 hour time slot and have a weekly limit.

The SU always runs good events, and for many things has provided students with representation to voice issues to the university

Singleton Park Campus is very close to the city centre, but Bay Campus you have to take public transport or drive to/from. Both campuses have provided an outdoor area for food and drink during the coronavirus pandemic. Prior to covid, the nightlife in swansea was pretty good and there was a wide selection of clubs and events to go to. During the pandemic, this has vastly decreased.

The course is taught completely online, with optional in-person lab sessions (that I have not attended). So far the support I’ve received from lecturers has been good - lecturers give quick responses to emails and the discussion boards, and provide optional lab sessions for extra help.

My course provided a year in industry option, which had secured me a job prospect when I graduate. Prior to the placement, the course also provided careers lectures for building a CV and preparing for interviews.

Privately rented 2 bed flat, rented through Swan Letting, in the Brynmill area about 10 mins walk from Singleton Park Campus. The flat is cosmetically lovely, however after living here for 4 months it is now caked in mould and damp. The walls are also paper thin, which means it is constantly freezing, and you can hear every word from the house next door and the flat upstairs - so I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in a while. It is not good value for money, I pay £400 per month, which is a lot for student accommodation in Swansea.
