dBs allows you to get very involved in the technical aspects of music as well as providing great spaces to produce, mix and record music. However, it sometimes feels like there aren’t enough spaces and things get booked up too quick. The small size of dBs allows for great individual attention in classes and for modules but this also means that there are less people for you to meet and less of a chance that you will ‘find your crowd’.

Most modules are straight forward and teach skills that are clearly helpful in developing abilities to become a better producer, engineer or artist. But some feel less applicable to the nature of the path I want to follow. Classes are small and allow for good discussions and individual attention.

I love how engaging the lectures and modules are. I felt pretty supported and encouraged through my whole time at dBs and think it deserves all the praise it can get. It needs more funding as the university could benefit from more recourses like certain VSTs and the teachers paid a little higher though as they’ve mentioned across the board there’s not enough support for teachers. It’s not fair that people who have gone on to complete MA’s or PHDs are not getting fair compensation for their work as academics and as tutors to us. Also a canteen would be cool.
