As someone who was unsure about university and kept pushing it back, dBs Institute is the perfect place to continue studies. The studios/facilities the campuses have are outstanding, but the real gold is in the student support sector. Student support have been able to get me back on track after some slip-ups and I could not be more thankful for it.

The three-day week I have is the perfect amount of time in lectures as it gives me plenty of self-reading time to really delve into the subjects.

The student support team at dbs are great. They have always made time for me when I need it, by providing counselling in each year of my study so far, aswell as weekly academic and mental health support covered by my DSA. The facilities at DBS are great. The access to equipment and studios is unreal! The lecturers are very knowledgable, there's a lot to learn from them if you pick their brains.

I have found in terms of course content I really didn't improve my music production skills. I found 1st year only covered the basics of music production and felt far better suited to a 'foundation course' This was frustrating as it felt like my first year was kind of wasted being taught things I already knew. And that I learned more outside of uni. Currently in my 2nd year I still feel there are times we're I am not really learning much. Currently in the advanced mixing module we are 6 weeks in and other than learning how to navigate an analog mixing desk I haven't learned anything that can improve or contribute to the mixdown process. This again can be frustrating. The industry focused modules have been good and I've learned a lot that will help me to navigate the industry when I leave uni. In terms of work placements and opportunities and internships I am not aware of any. In terms of career prospects I feel a degree in music isn't very hire-able and is going to very much rely on the amount of time I am able to invest outside of my studies in networking, social media and making music. This can be hard to balance around uni and work.
