I think there needs to be better access for students who do not live close by or cannot attend nights out. But the St Lukes campus has a lovely feel to it and feels safe.

The university campus is really quite beautiful, as cliché as it is, and its location near to the city centre is great in terms of accessibility. The student's guild has provided lots of support and entertainment, particularly during the Industrial Action periods, and for International students. However, there is a considerable amount of greenwashing occurring, which was especially evident during the university's rebranding exercise. And if you want to study Modern Languages - particularly Spanish - I do not recommend coming here at all as the department is a shambles and they are very resistant to feedback and change.

I have personally found taking a Combined Honours degree a good decision as it has provided me with a bit more variety and widened my application of knowledge across various disciplines. However, I do recommend looking in detail at the consequences of this in terms of module choices, compulsory content and dissertation options as they can be limiting in some cases. The worst aspect of my course was down to the Spanish and Modern Languages department; the staff team was not unified, which meant teaching was inconsistent or poorly organised and, worst of all, they were very resistant to feedback. The year abroad support and structure was equally disappointing and they changed how it counted or was examined mid-way through the year without any input of opinions from students.

The proximity to campus was great, but grocery shopping options were not ideal. The bathroom- student ratio was fantastic and having 12 people to the place meant it was a really sociable accommodation, especially with the spacious kitchen/living space downstairs.
