Physiotherapy is a branch of medicine which focuses on movement and mobility. If you like to work with your hands as well as your head, and enjoy helping people around you, then it could be an attractive career pathway to pursue. There are lots of different applications, from injuries and arthritis to long-term respiratory or neurological conditions, and you’ll be working with people of all ages and from every walk of life. You’ll work with regular patients, helping to design personalised treatment schedules and guiding them with movement exercises and massage.
Some courses are designed around sports rehabilitation or strength and conditioning, whereas some are more medically oriented such as cardiovascular, neurological or paediatric physiotherapists. If you know which area you’d like to work in, then you can often choose a specialist field from the start.
There’s a range of top physiotherapy courses all over the UK, and whether you’re planning on living at home or already know which area you want to study in, you’ll probably be keen to find out which courses are available nearby.
We’ve put together the following guide, which uses Complete University Guide subject league tables, to show you the top unis offering physiotherapy courses in each UK region.
