The University of Essex’s student support service supports and guides students throughout their time at the university. Student support staff offer free, confidential advice and information on all manner of welfare issues. Whether students are worried about money, need guidance on immigration, or are struggling with their studies or mental health, the university’s Student Services Hub is always available to help.
Services available to all students includes wellbeing and mental health support, healthcare services, financial support, study and exam support, access and disability support, childcare support, support for mature students, support for international students, and accommodation and campus community support. One-on-one services are complimented by an out of hours support line, workshops, tutorials, and a range of online services.

The University of Essex has numerous scholarships and bursaries available to support students during their time at the university. For UK students, a number of bursaries are provided for those from lower income backgrounds studying on a year abroad, undertaking an industrial placement or a voluntary placement. For the 2024/25 academic year, tuition fees for undergraduate students are set at £9,250 for UK, Home and Channel Island applicants. Students who are classed as international or EU students can expect to currently pay between £19,500 and £28,850 per year, depending on the course being undertaken.
