I've met loads of new people that are really similar to me. Living in halls with people has been really fun. There's been really fun events organised by RA's and societies and sports teams, you can be as busy as you want in your social life. Food on campus is expensive though!

Course is well structured and lecturers are generally good. Admissions were good but accommodation services were terrible - did not get a place in halls but was only told a couple of weeks before term started so had to scramble to find a house which is far away from university. This has meant my university experience was worse because I'm not in halls.

Only really began to enjoy university in the second term. Found it difficult settling in, especially due to being given accommodation off campus. There is a really nice atmosphere on campus which unfortunately I don't get to maximise as I don't have many contact hours. Second term has been much better because I've bonded with more people on my course making life more enjoyable.

I've really enjoyed the freedom and independence of living away from home. I was disappointed to not get a place on campus accommodation but private halls has been a great experience and I have met so many new and interesting people. Birmingham is a great city and there is so much to do in your spare time.

Overall my first year uni experiences has been new and exciting. I was disappointed having accomodation off campus and that would be my only complaint. Social scene is good and actually being on campus is great. Lectures are becoming more interesting as the year goes on as they are more course specific. Can't believe how quickly this year has gone.

Although my course has been really challenging, the lecturers and facilities have made it easier to learn and understand the harder topics. Accommodation and living with completely new people has been a scary but exhilarating experience and I've made some really good friends. Overall university life so far has been great.

The uni has everything you could need... great lecturers and strong courses, incredible campus, great accommodation, a wide variety of people and a fantastic city that caters for everything. I cannot fault it except for 1 lecturer I have for finance. There are easy bus and transport links into the city centre (Birmingham is the only university with its own train station) although I usually walk it, as it takes 25 minutes. The night life is amazing, such a variety from your standard night out on broad street, to big house and dupstep events in the Digbeth area and more casual social events in the Jewellery quarter. The accommodation here is great, I lived in Tennis Court, which is popular for a reason. The halls are spacious and the kitchens great for socialising. I would say though that as flats of 5, the people you live with are very important, and I was very lucky to have such a great group. Before I came to Birmingham I didn't have a particularly positive view of the city. But I actually love it here. Sure there are unattractive areas, it used to be a very industrialised city, but the development that has occurred is amazing. The canal that leads from the University into the city shows truly the best aspects. The centre of the city is really beautiful, and the more horrible bits such as new street station is currently under massive redevelopment work. The city is buzzing and vibrant, great shops and restaurants and every time I've been to the city theres some sort of music or performance act on the streets! The university itself is based in the beautiful Edgbaston, which is an extremely nice area of Birmingham. The campus is beautiful and leafy. I can't praise it enough.
