Love the SU
The tutors & Uni staff are excellent. Friendly, helpful, supportive & dedicated. Make lots of effort to make the classes interactive & interesting. Lots of student learning support - workshops, 1:1s & well being support.
Homely
The best is the freebies the worst is the hills.
There are a lot of study space options which is really good. It would be nice if some of them (e.g. libraries) were open for longer.
It is very student oriented. The student areas are safe and the student union has plenty of activities on such as Give It A Go events and plenty of drinking and non-drinking socials. Student voice is becoming more and more listened to so all voices have representation.
SHEFFIELD IS SO PEAK BRO
The uni has many great study spaces, lots of fun events planed and the courses are well layed out and explain everything needed.
There are multiple libraries and quiet spaces available to be able to do work. The lecturers are engaging and passionate about the sections of the course they teach. Some of the lectures could be more involved by including less reading off of slides.
I enjoy how much cheaper the cost of living in sheffield is compared to other top universities. The lecturers are all very enthusiastic about their own topics, getting me to enjoy it more. However it would be nice to have more later starts in the week so it’s not a very early start everyday.
Could do with lots more study spaces for the number of students. The library bit is massive but not much space to sit. More seminars would be good too many lectures sometimes.
The student union and university clearly listens to student voice which is evidenced through online harassment education modules for all students, awareness for Islamophobia in SU and so on. Worst aspects would be sometimes loneliness and overwhelm of course however, there is plenty of support and resources from the university which I've felt comfortable accessing.
Could do with more library spaces.
Really nice facilities
The student union is very involved with student life and offer a very wide range of socials and societies ranging from sport to crafts and duck spotting. They also offer alot of support for mental health, wellbeing and religion and sexualty and identity. The University is equipped with many high tech machines especially for engineering.
The people are all great!
