Bangor is a great uni in a great location. It’s a small city which isn’t for everyone, but I think that’s one of the reasons it’s such a nice place to live. The support from the lecturers in the modern languages and cultures department is amazing, you really get the feeling they go above and beyond. In terms of the students union, it’s fantastic that they have ensured that clubs and societies are free to join so you can get involved in as many things as you like, particularly if it’s something you’ve never tried before. I also really appreciate the £2 meals campaign they successfully delivered on. One thing that has been difficult recently is finding study spaces, especially now that the library isn’t accessible 24 hours (which also means you can’t access physical books during antisocial hours)

I’ve enjoyed everything about my course, though would have maybe liked more contact hours in the week. There has been no work placement/internship as part of this MA. I would maybe have liked more focus on computer aided translation technology with a chance to get to grips with cat software on a more in depth level. However, I mainly chose this MA for the theoretical/research side which I thoroughly enjoyed

A great room, really appreciated the en-suite. 8 to a flat so not too many. Felt a little bit expensive for what we were getting. One time a homeless person got into our building to sleep in the stairwell and was a bit nasty to some tenants but the issue was resolved by security pretty quickly who took him to find somewhere else to go

the community is welcoming
