The best part of Bangor university is the amount of support given by staff and lecturers. I have had a rough two years struggling with my own personal issues as well as helping friends with their own which means I’ve needed to adjust coursework deadlines and every time I’ve needed help, my lecturers have made sure I’ve been able to complete assignments as well as spoken to me about my problems. All of the philosophy staff are incredible and try their hardest to accommodate everyone’s needs so no one is left out or struggling. As a course rep, I take part in the regular meetings discussing the other issues people are having within the social sciences department and again, all issues are listened to and discussions and resolutions are made to sort these out. As well as the lecturers being supportive, they make sure that their lectures and seminars are interactive and engaging as well as being very responsive to any questions asked.

Blended learning is finally coming to an end as covid is settling down but the lectures I’ve had that with blended learning have been fantastic. There have been a few hiccups as sometimes websites and links to content don’t work for the online class but seeing as it is the first time the university has had to deal with this, I think blended learning went as smooth as it could have. The lecturers engage well with both in person and the online class, making use of the chat function to ask and answer questions. Lecturers make sure that they are basically always accessible to students in their office as they all have an open door policy as well as checking emails regularly.

The staff within the philosophy department are absolutely amazing as are many of the PhD students who take on teaching responsibilities. While my overall impression has been good, there are certain aspects that are lacking - ie staff clearly not being paid appropriately, poor accessibility across the university buildings and long waiting times for student support due to lack of staff.

Honestly, I love my course! the ability to have total freedom in choosing modules means i can specialise in the areas I want to, and the staff really engage with student feedback (at least within the philosophy department)

No complaints, wouldn't say its outstanding but its suitable, perhaps a little pricey.
