At times I do find myself missing home quite a lot, but the people and the lectures and the things you can do to occupy yourself here in Leeds make up for many things.

I play rugby for the SU society so I can confidently say that the sports facilities are brilliant. The union itself is great, with many socials and events going on all the time in a nice venue.

I approached student support services when I wanted to change accommodation and they handled my problems very swiftly and professionally. I value the help they offer greatly.

I love our SU, the committee do a brilliant job and I believe it was voted the 2nd best SU in the UK. It was one of the main aspects of the uni that swayed me to choose Leeds over other places. A Chinese restaurant, baguette stall, massive clubbing venue and grocery store are amongst the few things all contained within the SU building.

I am originally from London so Leeds is very small in comparison. It is a great city with fantastic night life and I am enjoying my stay here a lot, but it is nothing like London unfortunately. I have managed to find two jobs in Leeds at a club and as a salesman in a speaker company, so my spare time is mainly devoted to my job but both places have a good working environment.

I have joined the rugby, football and business society. It is great that I can still enjoy sports and being active and physical in my time at Leeds. The socials that the societies put on are a massive bonus too where you can get together with people of the same interests.

The course is really interesting and has always been a subject that I have placed a lot of importance on, Leeds Uni really delivers on the subject. I have met some great during my time here as well. I do think there should be more support on certain parts of the course, however. For the most part, lecturers and friendly and approachable but there are the odd one or two who are not at all, and often they are the stereotypical “old and grumpy” lecturers who are nearing retirement and are incompetent at teaching, which is a shame when the lecturers are clearly knowledgeable in their field but just do not know how to deliver the content.

I am lucky in that my course is quite broad and will hopefully enable me to find work easily after I graduate.

I am staying in Leodis and it is good value. 700 students reside in these halls so it’s a great social place. It is also only a 5 minute walk to the uni which is a bonus.
