When I first got my accommodation offer, I wasn’t too happy and even contacted the university asking if I was able to change and they told me I had to wait until October to fill in the application. I was ready to be in and out of my dorm but when I got to my accommodation, it felt just right being there. I was also very lucky with my flatmates. We got along really well and go out together almost everyday, which made settling in so much easier especially as an international student. I was quite anxious before coming here as I thought I might feel like an outsider or be left out, but that was far from what actually happened, everyone’s been so welcoming and friendly. What makes the campus so beautiful is that everything you could ever need is right here, and that really makes up for its location being quite isolated from the city. Getting into the city doesn’t take long since there are buses that come directly to campus, but honestly, just the thought of leaving sometimes makes me not want to go at all. Since everything is available here, I rarely feel the need to leave campus unless it’s for clothes shopping. The teaching here is really good too. You can tell the lecturers genuinely care about students and group work. I’m still getting used to using Blackboard to view assignments and tasks though.

The lecturers here really try to make the material as engaging as possible, even though it can be challenging with so many students in a lecture. The content itself is super interesting, and they always make an effort to keep everyone involved, taking in questions and focusing on students’ needs. Even using some websites where through a QR code we join and type in our answers/questions/comments. I as a student personally feel heard and that if I ever needed help with certain parts of my course, I can rely on asking them. The professors also answer students questions on the discussion board on blackboard where we can ask the questions anonymously which helps more students ask more questions. The questions asked also show to everyone as I for example might also have a similar question to one that was just asked. The seminar teachers are just as supportive. They are always around when needed and make the seminars really interactive with plenty of group work and activities. I love that we can ask questions at any time, and they genuinely make sure everyone understands what’s being discussed. The website Blackboard is just a bit confusing and a lot of the work depends on us students being on top of it without any one following up unlike high school. It is also really easy to be and feel behind if not being on top of it.

The kitchen gets really really messy and dirty but that’s on us as flatmates. My least favorite part of the accommodation has to be the kitchen but the energy that is in it with all of us being together makes it at home. So if a friend comes, I have to explain this bit first because the kitchen is always quite dirty and could have been designed better in my opinion.
