I have Bipolar disorder and have had so much support from my School (English). This has kept me moving forward with my degree. The staff are all fantastic. The Mental Health Support team have been wonderful, I am fortunate to have been assigned a mentor to help me in times of stress. The Miles Dyslexia Centre have been a Godsend, I finally learnt why I read so slow and have difficulty processing information. They have helped with strategies to make my academic experience easier for me.

Student Union is first class. They are very approachable and really take problems on board and endeavour to solve them. There are many activities arranged for students to attend.

Bangor offers a wide range of courses. My own course gives me scope to choose modules I enjoy and if I wanted to I could take one module each year with another school.

I don't live on Campus as I am a local student but all my peers have nothing but praise for the Halls.

The best things has been the course itself, the content is really interesting, the lecturers are really supportive and there’s been quite a lot of help in terms of preparing for the world of work. The downside is that the students union seems a bit boring compared to other unis. They don’t seem to have anything fun targeted at more mature students and presidents of societies often ignore you when you contact, and sometimes a society exists without actually doing anything at all, or other times just do really boring things or things we can do at home anyway rather than facilitating us to do really exciting things that we’d struggle to do otherwise.

The good thing is that the lecturers are really supportive and seem to genuinely care about us. They really help you find your interests and focus on them and support you to do your best. I think the biggest downside is that I have a long term health condition and sometimes need more time off sick but most lectures don’t get recorded so it’s hard to stay in the loop. You can meet with the lecturers to get help catching up especially for what you don’t understand, but it’s a shame to miss the lecture content.
