This university has a good location as it’s not far from the bus station or the train station. Making it more accessible for student who don’t live on campus. While there are uni busses I believe they should be all around the city as students who don’t live near by or in student accommodations need to spend even up to £5 a day to get there and back by buss. While the student support from the staff and lecturers is at a great level the overall teaching could use improvements as it’s not as engaging as it could be, it’s mostly just reading from the board and moving on, in my college criminology course a good way of memorising informations was to creat quizzes for students such as kahoots, it was useful for maintaining course info and was entertaining. This would also fix the issues of student disengagement as it would make them more confident in taking part in class becuase they would be sure of their answers. The overall building is very modern, easily accessible and comfortable. Another improvement would be putting bike sheds on the premises of the building. I myself study at the bronze building in town and there isn’t a place to attach a bike anywhere, if there were I could come to lectures by bike and would save on transportation costs and it would be more environmentally friendly.

I believe that the timing of lectures is decent but I don’t think there is a need for the whole 3 hours as notes can be taken within the first hour or even completed before or after the lecture. I think that the lectures could be more engaging becuase there isn’t much talking between the lecturer and the students, we are all just being talked at for 3 hours which becomes boring especially since majority of my lectures are held in the morning. The lectures could be more engaging and entertaining with kahoots or other competitive activities that would bring life back to the students, help them with maintaining information from the lectures as well as give a chance to create a more comfortable environment for the students which could help them with engaging more in lectures.

The town is bland, full of addicts and bad quality clubs, there are a few hidden gems but nothing exciting for students. The halls cost nearly £200 weekly and the student finance doesn’t cover majority of the necessary things. There is nearly to no available jobs nearby which makes it even worse to live. Even for student who live at home, transport costs too much to get to my lectures and the uni bus doesn’t come to where I live which I think is unfair because even secondary school busses go all over derby, I think it should be the same for university school students.
