I just think that overall it is a great university. I’ve really enjoyed my three years here. Facilities and staff are great and the nightlife is amazing.

I love living in Leeds, the city itself is built for students and has the best environment. The university itself is in a great location, has amazing modern buildings which are easy to navigate- with rooms designed for learning. I think that the parking and food costs are the only thing letting the university down, to park for the whole day is over £9 and the cafe is just very expensive- it’s not reasonable for me to stay on campus for the day to study, so I always leave after lectures and go to other spaces. This is a shame as the vibe of the campus is great and it would be nice to study at the uni. I really enjoy the learning experience of the course I am on as it is very varied, with different styles of teaching implemented throughout. The class sizes are also quite small making teaching more personal and we have the ability to develop good relationships with our tutors. This makes learning much more enjoyable and motivates me to work hard. Finally, I do feel that the software such as the Leeds Beckett app and the website are often very hard to navigate and quite glitchy- they’re just not very user friendly and I often find it difficult to find grades etc. Otherwise I think Leeds Beckett is a fantastic university and I have and will continue to recommend it to people, and share my positive experiences so far.

This course is fantastic and provided students with a huge variety of opportunities and choices to expand our learning experience and content. The course aims to reach a huge range of topics within the subject allowing me to explore my options, the lectures themselves provide a lot of interesting information and knowledge is always linked back to real life examples making content easy to digest. The essay topics so far have all been very interesting to me, and studying for them has never felt like a chore, instead I find it interesting to research about these topics and really think about how I can relate them to my experiences. Feedback provided by the tutors is also exceptional and I have found that when applying feedback to following essays, my work and grades have really improved. All the learning is basically in person which I think it very beneficial as I know from personal experience that I tend to lose focus during online learning, whereas in person lectures do a much better job of maintaining my focus and I find learning much more enjoyable. Contact with the lecturers is also brilliant and I have also been responded to within a day or two- they are all extremely helpful and have been a valuable part of my experience. Overall I really enjoy my course and have found it extremely beneficial towards my education, it has provided me with learning experiences that will be valuable in my career and also taught me important professional skills.

Marsden is okay- the flats themselves are very spacious and modern, warm and mostly clean and comfortable. The bathrooms have a lot of issues with mould and smell and the whole place seems to have an issue with dust and ventilation. Otherwise, there are not too many issues and the maintenance team are very efficient and useful. However, Marsden is a known party halls and is often very difficult for sleeping due to loud parties and music. This really impacted me and a lot of people I know. Value for money however is pretty appalling at Marsden- I paid £187 per week for a small room and bathroom, with a view looking directly into someone else’s room so I could never open my blinds, a very uncomfortable bed and no real benefits. The location of the building isn’t ideal, very far from supermarkets meaning either lugging shopping for 20 minutes or paying for an Uber. Also far from uni and any good nightlife. Marsden was definitely not worth the money, and my student loan didn’t cover even half of the rent making me out of pocket for pretty substandard accommodation.
