The best part about Lancaster is the community feel. With the college system it feels like you’re part of something. They put on lots of events on campus like weekly farmers markets and free ice skating as well as weekend trips away. The lecturers for my course are all researchers and are actively working in the field they lecture. Lancaster could be improved with more support for non-sport societies. With upgrades to campus buildings there is limited space for society events this year.

My course is 90% in person learning with lectures, workshops and practical sessions. There is a lot of content as part of this degree but there is a lot of contact hours with lecturers which makes learning easier. The practical sessions are well organised and often are given a story background to be more fun. For example DNA analysis became a crime scene investigation. My placement year was a brilliant experience and by staying in contact and engaging with the university throughout this I gained a significant amount of credits towards my degree. The coursework assessed is varied and appropriate for the course. However, 50% of the content in the second and final year is assessed by in-person exams which can be stressful.

The porters (security staff) are there 24/7, we had cleaners included in the rental price and location on campus was good. Value for money was good compared to many other universities. Some accommodation in Lonsdale college had renovated kitchens however there was no price difference.
