The University of York is a really nice place to study. The campus is beautiful (with lots of ducks!) and feels very safe. It is also really easy to get into the city centre by bus. It's a little more difficult to get to supermarkets but some will deliver to on-campus accommodation which is really useful. There are a range of study spaces on campus and it is possible to use the My UOY app to book study spaces in the library which is useful as it is often busy. There is also a lot of support available, both for mental health and your studies. The uni offers lots of opportunities to join societies and sports teams and to get involved with events in your college. Most departments have their own society which runs socials to help you get to know other people on your course and the staff in the department. My college has had bake-off screenings in the hub and offers a taco in a bag on Mondays! Many also have college specific freshers events and formals. The freshers events organised by the student union were a really good mix of activities so it didn't feel like you had to go out every night to be involved. As someone that hadn't really been clubbing before, I found this reassuring but I also found that, as they were student exclusive and transport was provided, the freshers club nights felt very safe and it was easy to have a good time. Overall my experience at York so far has been very positive and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of applying.

All of the psychology lectures so far have been really interesting. All the staff seem really friendly and are happy to answer questions after lectures, either in person or on a discussion board. We are also given the opportunity to ask or answer questions anonymously using Menti, which is good as it allows everyone to participate, even when you're in a really big lecture theatre. All the lectures are recorded which is really helpful if you miss one due to illness or just to revisit the content for revision. Practicals have been really useful as an introduction to how to process data when we do our own research. We are able to access the resources for this online, too (but not recordings). The VLE can be quite difficult to navigate at first but provides a lot of really useful resources including powerpoints, recordings, reading lists, discussion boards and additional materials such as quizzes and videos to help you revise.

Anne Lister College is located just on the Edge of Campus East meaning that it is relatively easy to walk anywhere on campus. However, there isn't a bus stop particularly close so it's a bit more difficult on rainy days. The accommodation itself is very nice and the kitchen is spacious. It feels very safe as a key card is required to enter each block, flat and room. The only problem is that the rooms lock automatically so it is very easy to get locked out, even if you are just going to the kitchen. The room allocation is first come first serve which is good for allocating the college and en suite vs shared bathroom rooms but no effort was made to group flatmates based on personality or interests. Kitchens and shared bathrooms are cleaned weekly and a weekly college meal is included at no extra cost.

The University of York is inclusive, welcoming and overall great. The university campus is beautiful and even though the city is not very lively, the university constantly has events for students to interact and enjoy.

I have had a good experience with the teaching staff and course content. Overall quite satisfied however the course is not very challenging.

York is a quite expensive city however it is very safe and beautiful.

Overall great amenities however the older Vanbrugh blocks were pretty worn out and the rooms weren’t as spacious as the rooms of other colleges.
