Reading Uni has a beautiful and green campus and is a lovely place to be. Decent facilities and a decent politics course, good lecturers/teachers. however, the student union does seem to be run quite inefficiently and societies do have problems with it.

The course is quite interesting, but is heavily theory-based, which is different from what I was initially expecting given the nature of what I was learning in A-Level politics. There is very little need for contemporary knowledge. as far as facilities are concerned, there not much that is needed really: all the academic material you could need is available and there is study space available on campus. The teachers/lecturers are all nice and have designated time for one-to-one consultation should you need it. However, I do feel as though the grading of assessments is highly subject to who is marking it: there are things are penalised heavily by some and not at all for others. Overall good but not outstanding.

The campus is beautiful but is a little bit out of the way from town. This is made up for somewhat by the frequent busses and abundance of bus routes. There are excellent transport links to and from Reading too, including a 20-minute train ride directly to Paddington Station.

Bridges Hall, in my opinion, is in the best location out of all the Reading Halls. It's not a designated quiet halls so there's not too much worry about being too noisy but it is in a quiet location surrounded by trees so you can still get to sleep at night (unlike some other halls). The Hall Warden is great and security are pretty reasonable. Short walk from central campus, but further than some of the other halls. I think it strikes the best balance between quality and price out of the Reading Halls, so is the best value for money (relatively speaking). Still very expensive though.

I has been great so far. The choice of modules on my course are great. The facilities are modern and really helpful, also the students union is cheap and good. On the bad side the accommodation is overpriced everywhere you look and we could do with more water fountains!!!
