The university overall did a good job considering we started during lockdown - the teaching has been a bit muddled but the staff are friendly and helpful. The campus is outdated and the buildings are confusing to navigate.

The university is a very nice place to study. The facilities are up-to-date and modern, especially the library which was recently renovated. The staff and teaching departments are good. I always feel I can ask questions regarding the work, and feel engaged in my lectures. As for the student and nightlife, the town is not very lively and I’m not too keen on it. However the Oracle shopping centre is always fun and enjoyable. In terms of clubs, the main two ones are Lola Los and Era. They are decent clubs but as someone who comes from London, they don’t necessarily compare , there is always something to do though and there’s transport links directly into London on trains that are about 20 minutes.

I really do enjoy my course it’s engaging interesting and provides a lot of variety. I’m not someone who likes to specialise too early on so I appreciate the time they’ve given us to explore whiter themes and ideas. The department in teaching terms is very good. They always pay attention and listen. I never feel like I can’t talk to anyone if I’m struggling with my workload.

Wessex Hall is a great place to stay on campus, especially for first year. This is as it has a very open floor plan with little separation between kitchens. This makes it very socially engaging and easy to bump into people on a regular basis. I would recommend it to someone who enjoys going out. Maybe not so much for someone who wants to stay in and study quietly. However, having said that I am moving out next year and I would not recommend it for second or third year, for someone who wants to put their head down and focus a bit more. It’s probably not the best place in terms of location, it’s relatively distanced from the centre of campus, but it’s right next to the lake and has lots of lovely scenery around it. To be honest, I did not mind the walk as it’s very beautiful and cheered me up when I felt down some mornings and to be honest the distance of the walk is negligible, it’s about seven minutes.
