University of Reading

The University of Reading is a beautiful campus. The Whiteknights Lake surrounded by the trees, is a perfect place to walk around in between lectures. There are many study spaces where I enjoy sitting and working on assignments as well as coffee shops and snack shops that get me through the day. One of the greatest parts of the University of Reading is its proximity to town, as well as the bus transportation system that can be relied on, regardless of time. The University offers a multitude of support systems and communication teams for any question a potential student or an studying student may have. For the people who do not enjoy going clubbing in town, the Student Union is a short distance away from almost all of the accomodations and for a more chilled night, Park Bar and mojo's are the perfect places to visit with your friends. My favourite part of the University of Reading is the courses. I study history, and I feel it has opened up lots of opportunities for me. The dedication for preparing me for my future career is something I appreciate greatly within the department of History and most importantly the involvement of all the staff in ensuring a student success. The worst aspect of my university experience is finding a second-year accommodation. Although student accommodation is available, I find it to be unaffordable. Furthermore, a lot of the houses in Reading face issues daily and have unreliable landlords. Something that can be improved is ensuring the student has knowledge of the accommodation options available and basic knowledge of bills. Another thing I have experienced is the business of the library during exam season, making it sometimes difficult to find somewhere to sit and study.

Best - I've made life long friends in all aspects of my time at Reading Uni. I also have learnt so much about my course and I am really happy with my choice. I really enjoy studying on campus. The campus is beautiful too. Worst- as a committee member for societies, it can be frustrating to get reimbursed for society activities. But this is an only a minor point

I love the campus. The campus is full of life and things to do. I would like for the university to put more funding into communal areas for students.

The university is a very nice place to study. The facilities are up-to-date and modern, especially the library which was recently renovated. The staff and teaching departments are good. I always feel I can ask questions regarding the work, and feel engaged in my lectures. As for the student and nightlife, the town is not very lively and I’m not too keen on it. However the Oracle shopping centre is always fun and enjoyable. In terms of clubs, the main two ones are Lola Los and Era. They are decent clubs but as someone who comes from London, they don’t necessarily compare , there is always something to do though and there’s transport links directly into London on trains that are about 20 minutes.

My favourite things about UoR are the campus and its facilities. There are two campuses and both are lovely. The library is wonderful and one of my favourite places at uni. The SportsPark gym is close to the main campus and has a good environment. Reading is not the best for nightlife, I like the purple turtle and union but it's definitely not the best as far as uni nightlife goes.
