The new science building, Verena Holmes is absolutely wonderful and really worth visiting. It’s got all new state of the art equipment and is a very big building so many students can use it at once. The campus is small but very beautiful, with a lot of nature. There is a lovely little lake, a grassy orchard and plenty of picnic benches to have lunch at as well as cafes on site. The walk into Canterbury from the campus is really short, which is ideal. The city of Canterbury is beautiful, it’s very endearing and old fashioned with lots of old buildings, beautiful rivers and gorgeous parks that get packed with students in the summer months giving the city a really nice feel.

With covid I have had mostly blended learning, however the lecturers have provided us with optional in real life sessions consistently for those who feel comfortable and wish to attend. The contact hours for this course in terms of lectures is low and you are required to do a lot of preparation set by the teachers. However, there is a lot of contact time in terms of lab weeks, where you spend time in the science block doing dissections etc.

There is a really lovely atmosphere in Canterbury, especially in the summer months when tourists visit. There is always a buzz of students too at night which is lovely.

Best- meeting people from our country and having a nice cozy group Worst- more external events should be promoted to students in class as we don’t have much idea

Lab days are fun.. but draining at the same time
