CCCU is a great university to study at if you require lots of support. It is very much a teaching focused university rather than research. Canterbury is a great city to live in, with transport links to London and the rest of Kent as well as having an abundance of amenities and social scenes for students. The Student Union (SU) is very active and provides a lot of support, and so does the Careers and Enterprise service. There are many societies and sports team that students can join and funding for new societies is available. I've really enjoyed my time studying at this university as the support is very much there if needed. Areas for improvement are probably the timetabling as sometimes people do not have their timetables before term starts!

My course was supposed to be taught in-person, but like many other universities - due to the pandemic, the 1st and 2nd years of my degree were taught online, apart from the lab practicals of course. The face to face teaching is great because you can get involved in discussions with your lecturer and/or peers, the lecturing facilities are very modern and everything is recorded so you can catch-up online if you miss a lecture. The lab practicals are good fun because you can apply the theory that you have learned. Due to the pandemic though, the practicals were ran in block intensive weeks to accommodate the other courses requiring lab space, which meant that students didn't always feel that their learning was consolidated because the theory didn't run alongside the practical, whereas in foundation year pre-covid I had a lecture in the morning followed by the relevant practical in the afternoon which was, for me, the most efficient way to learn and most engaging. Contact with lecturers is very hands-on and they are efficient at responding to emails when you have queries. The course hours are mostly flexible too in that you have more "spare" time each week than taught hours, though students are expected to use that time to consolidate their learning and go over any content that they are unsure of.
