The supportive and engaging academic environment is great, the facilities for creative courses are very well-maintained and bower Ashton feels welcoming and inspiring which I find extremely important as a creative individual. The teaching staff are knowledgeable and approachable, the lecturers are genuinely invested in students progress. There is a strong sense of creativity and independence encouraged across the courses which helps students develop both academically and personally. Student life is active there’s a good range of societies, events and opportunities to meet people from diverse backgrounds. Overall, the university provides a positive and motivating environment that supports learning, growth, creativity and community. While the overall experience is positive, student support services could be more consistently accessible especially during busy academic periods.

The course content is engaging and well structured, with a strong focus on practical hands-on learning delivered through in-person teaching. Studio sessions, workshops and tutorials are practically valuable as they allow for direct feedback, discussion and collaborative learning. Lecturers are knowledgeable, supportive and approachable during class time and tutorials.

Bristol in itself is a very vibrant and alive city, it’s great for university students because there are a lot of opportunities for any major. UWE has great facilities that carry all the tools you will need in your academic years, has incredible tutors in my experience and also cares a lot about student life and making it enjoyable for everyone. While Bower Ashton is the campus to most artistic majors, I would say it lacks creativity, what I mean by that is the facilities in themselves aren’t very appealing or inspiring. And as someone that studies an artistic major I take a lot of inspiration from my surroundings and that’s why I find the overall look of the facilities important.

The lecturers in my course are beyond amazing. They help everyone with whatever they may need, even in their time off. I would say though that I’m a bit disappointed, so far, with the course I’m studying. It’s not quite what I imagined it to be and so far we haven’t done much that’s directly related to the course. The lectures are taught in high detail, although it’s a shame that sometimes it’s just a PowerPoint being read off the screen that anyone could read at home. Just because the course is not what I would have expected so far it doesn’t mean I’m giving up. I trust my lecturers fully and I am certain they know what they are doing.

The location is perfect, right in the center of Bristol, and even at nights where the roads might empty out a bit you always feel safe because theres a member of staff until a certain hour right at the entrance of the building. It is very fortunate the building has a study room that you can book and also a common room equipped with a tv, sofas, table tennis, pool table and vending machines. These amenities really help socialization in the building and it’s one of the reasons I chose this specific accommodation in the first place. The flats are either quite new or have had renovations, needless to say they look appealing. But given the small size of the rooms, and kitchens, and the fact that the biggest percentage of flats don’t have en-suites, I wouldn’t say it’s a great value for money. The location does make up for it though. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful and I feel completely comfortable to share any of my problems with them. We also have occasional social events which are very refreshing.
