Sheffield has been like a home away from home for me! Despite being a medium sized city, the student area feels like such a community which I love. My lecturers are amazing and supportive and the modules I’ve chosen really enhance my understanding of my specific interests within linguistics. I’ve had the opportunity to participate in Zumba society and I’ve started my childhood sport (gymnastics) again. My main challenges were in first year trying to settle in to living in accommodation as an autistic student, but things have got better over the years as I have adapted to student life. I will miss Sheffield a lot when I graduate.

Having 8-12 contact hours a week has meant I have so much freedom to organise my week and get my preparation, consolidation and assignments done. We have some elements of blended learning through pre-recorded lectures to support in-person workshops, but it is mostly in person. Because it’s a smaller course, I love the fact that we get so much support and feedback and that our lecturers are accessible through consultation slots.

I loved my flatmates - I was so lucky and they genuinely made my year. I have so much nostalgia for my time in first year and I think my experience in halls definitely shaped that. I know that the halls have got considerably more expensive since I’ve left, but they offered good value for money when I was there.

Sheffield uni is a great place to study and live in, it is a vibrant city with lots to offer, and the university provides great academic and social support. There are so many societies to choose from, the Students’ Union is amazing and the Foundry is really good

The course is really interesting and varied, however I feel there could be more contact hours. The tutors are very helpful and feedback is good, however there could potentially be more of it. The lecturers are specialists and are very knowledgeable and engaging

I loved living in halls, they had lots of facilities, I had a lovely flat and it’s so close to so many other people so it’s very sociable. It’s very green and there’s lots of outdoor space, there’s a bar and restaurant, study space, you can have bbqs on the green and there is a music practice room.
